I'd like to think Disney would offer some compensation, for some people their trip might be a once in a lifetime thing and for a first timer (or others just not myself!) this meal could have been the highlight of their trip. If it was for a technical reason then people would have to understand but obviously in this case it is simply because someone else is going to pay more to be there are the same time..

If there actually were reservations cancelled then I think it's pretty cut and dry, there should be some form of compensation. There's not much room for pixie-dusters to sprinkle over this.

"We are terribly sad to inform you that we had to cancel you ressies at Cindy's Royal Table. It occurred to us that some folks are willing to pay a lot more for your table. We have made alternate dining plans for you. We have reserved a special Tomorrowland Trash Can Top for your dining pleasure. And for your convenience, there are several culinary delights located right there. Turkey Legs and Churros...mmmmmmm!"

I don't think any compensation is required for canceling a dinner reservation. Disney should just offer other dining options for those that had to be rescheduled.

Required? No.
Deserved? Probably.

As multiple people have already pointed out CRT isn't just some "dinner reservation". Then there's whole "Disney Difference" motto which should hopefully come in to play. I mean, I've been offered hefty compensation when a steakhouse asked to move my reservation an hour, and that requires a lot less coordination on my part.

Again i don't feel it's necessary to compensate Guests for canceling a dining reservation. This world has become full of people thinking compensation is required for everything. The Disney Difference would be finding an alternative restaurant for your dining time.

And again, CRT isn't just a "dinner reservation". You are both downplaying the realities of the CRT reservation, what the Disney Difference is about and then overstating that everyone wants compensation for everything.

Just wanted to quote because this seemed to have been glossed over. Not saying it's ok if the place was booked solid but I just can't imagine it was.

Exactly so.

I'm hoping eventually someone will come along and show that there weren't even any reservations made, then we can all just go away. I'm talking theoreticly right now, as I think most are.

You mean, SOP for the apologists. The same folks that came out in force and poo pooed WS as an educational medium the second that Disney announced the Arrendale Pavilion. "It just a bunch of crappy liquor kiosks anyway who cares?

If, as one poster stated, the park closes at 8:00, what would be the latest reservation time booked at CRT? I don't know that answer, but if the park closes at 8:00, I don't see them offering reservations any later than 7:00 or 7:30, which would be plenty of time to turn over the customers.

So far the only official information we've been shown here is the announcement of the dinner series. Until someone who was actually affected or has access to the cancellation notice from Disney and posts it, the information is non-verified.

If true however, as others have said, this may be the hottest reservation at the resort. People plan six months in advance and they and / or their children probably look forward to that dinner with incredible anticipation, I too think Disney owes them more than just a "sorry, we're taking more money over you and your family". I know the first time we went to CRT it was pretty special. For some this could be a once in a lifetime trip and dinner.

CRT is a character meal, nothing more.

According to a thread on another site, there were reservations at CRT that had to be moved due to this. The poster who started the thread eventually was given a replacement time/date at CRT because he was persistent, but the initial response was more along the lines of "operational difficulties, you're SOL."

That is extremely disappointing if true. Thank you for sharing.
