People always rave about the Tonga Toast (and with good reason), but I think the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes are the sleeper king at the Kona Cafe.

I prefer savory items for breakfast over the sweet stuff. Part of me thinks that Tonga Toast would be too much for me. But I still want to try it. If I went, the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes would be my choice.

First you get some pork, then you .....

Ya know, this could head in a bad direction very quickly .

Seriously though, you can make it cheap and easy, or you can make it the long slow good way.

The long slow way involves getting a pork shoulder butt, smoking it hours in the smoker, shredding it, and mixing it with the BBQ sauce you made from scratch.

The down and dirty way. Take a pork shoulder butt. Put it in a slow cooker (crock pot) Cover with water. Quarter up an onion or two and some garlic. Add them to the pot, with some salt, pepper, and (this is pretty much key) some liquid smoke (2 TSP or so). Cook it till it falls off the bone (8 hours or so)

Seperate the meat from the bones and fat. Shread the meat using two forks. Mix with your favorite BBQ sauce type condiment.

Eat.

I have some crock pot recipies that have better ingreidents (beer, bay, etc) but the above will make pretty much what WDW serves.

Swap the water for Root Beer (about a 2 liter bottle). I also add ground mustard, a packet of dried onion soup mix and you're GOLDEN! Once shredded, I mix in BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's is great) and call it a day.

I have had pork done like that. If you are a fan of sweet BBQ, as it appears you are, then it is indeed - sweet.

I am more or a spicy/vinegary person
