I don't get the new Ads for BK... it is just hot girls moving.... and a guy dressed as a king with a fake mask...

Strange...

The new MK, Epcot, & MGM commercial aint that bad... It ould have had more work but it achieved it's purpose....

While I GUESS I can understand all of the critics, I don't understand what the real expectation for Disney COMMERCIALS should be. They're COMMERCIALS. NOT ATTRACTIONS.

NOt to continue with the stray of this conversation. But the BK commercial you have to feel for Hootie, I mean he's been reduced to BK commercials.

But, thank you everyone who agreed with me! I say it again give me classic mickey! Put the art back in Disney. Faster and cheaper isn't better.

Just saw the commercial for a second and third time. I still haven't heard it, but anyway... I was paying close attention to the animation this time, and one thing I noticed was that parts of the faces jiggled waaaaay too much. Could this be a result of the CGI animators trying to impliment real-world physics simulators into a cartoon-world setting?

Saw it twice last night, I thought it was awesome. I am a big advocate for 3d. I believe 3D is the future however Hand drawn isn't dead. I thought:

1. IT was missing textures
2. the charectors were good but looked plastic, again because the lack of textures.
3. quality looked like something eairly sega dreamcast, lack of texture.

Putting all that aside it's a less then 30 second commercial. for a commercial it looked good and probubly came in under budget. definitly not the best they can do. I love seeing all the charectors in 3D. I am all for 3D and I hope they keep it up and surpass all other studios in the 3D area.

The commercial is fairly short and it gets the point across. I think it should
give us all hope that Disney may have someone else, other than Pixar, that
will be able to produce this type of animation, if they want to go in that
direction. (If the previews of Cars is any indication, Pixar might not be that hot after next year.)

Hootie/Darius, Brooke Burke, Jenna Jameson, Vida Guerra, and various celebrities make appearances in the BK commercial. (Sorry I started a drift)

Back on topic: I still think the animation looks weird. :p

Same here. I get a small smile on my face and stare at the tv longingly. (I need to get out more) :hammer:

just saw it last night, i thought they looked "off" as well, their heads just weren't right
i think part of it was the lighting, they were going for a stardust-y twilight dusk look, but just didn't pull it off

i THINK it has to do with the skin textures, on a human character like Mr. Incredible we know what skin texture is like, and we know what human skin looks like in low light levels; or Woody and Buzz with shiny plastic skin. But what kind of skin texture does Mickey have? in 2D, you just give Mickey the right shade of beige and off you go, but in 3D you need to define a texture, or else he'll look plastic. the Disney characters have always had almost a 'glow' to them that doesn't work in 3D
(speaking of characters looking plastic, Jimminy Cricket looked especially terrible i thought, more like Pinnochio!)

I saw the commercial for the first time last night. I was so excited to see a new commercial that I did not analize it. I will try to pay close attention to the details the next time I see it. From what I saw I liked it.

On a whole I really like this commercial but I do have to say that being married to a Graphic Designer the characters really do look a lit out of sort. The only one that I have to say that really looks good is Jiminy Cricket. I am not saying that the commercial isn't good I just don't like the way the graphics were done on this commercail.

I have not seen the commercial, but I would like to underscore what has already been brought up regarding quality modeling, rigging, animation, texturing, lighting, etc vs. substandard artistry. Sure, Mickey & Co. may be more well suited overall for 2D, but I believe it is quite possible for them to look great in 3D. If Disney was willing to pay out the bucks and sign on the right talent, it would be great.

Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas was, well, pretty good (with a few exceptions!) Philharmagic was (mostly) fantastic. Those screenshots, however, looked pretty awful to me.

My point: It doesn't have to be bad. These generalities (2D vs 3D) are dissappointing.

Don't go by my screenshots. The color is off in them and it is very grainy. I just posted them so people get the feel. Also, I would rather disney put the money into attractions and films rather than comercials. As long as it looks like mickey, for a commercial, it is fine.
