WDW 45th Anniversary

What exactly would the drones be used for? Lighting? Fireworks?

So what Is the latest on the Wishes and Illuminations replacements?

I feel like something new entertainment wise could be coming toward the end of this year. Could just be that rumored stage show at MK but hopefully more than just that.

There has been some articles on how they would use these drones as walking large puppets...

You know good and well that the current buffoons running WDW will go "Oh, we created a new nighttime parade and fireworks show four years ago. We're good for another decade. We don't need to do anything special for the 50th Anniversary of WDW." That was the point of my post, which clearly went right over your head. And, acknowledging it doesn't mean I'm accepting it. Two very different words. Maybe you should pick up a dictionary

I never meant that you personally accepted or liked it. I said that your acknowledgement spoke to the problem that existed -- their problem, not yours. It evidenced a problem.

It is sad that we have come to recognize a problem so entrenched that it would cause us to "manage" or temper our expectations of them in the present because we think that it would keep them from doing something five years from now. I was pointing out how sad that was compared to what their predecessors could do in a short time -- and what should be possible today.

This acknowledgement speaks to the problem. You are really saying that a new major attraction now would preclude them from being able to have something new again IN FIVE YEARS.

Nobody told this philosophy to the guys who opened the MK in 1971 and continued to add new attractions or overlays or resort experiences over the next few years, including the CoP and Space Mountain within the park, outside including River Country, Fort Wilderness, Discovery Island, water ski shows, several hotels, The Walt Disney World Shopping Village, and not to mention later all of EPCOT Center within 11 years....

Yeah, building a new ride or parade every five years is expecting too much.
I remember Disneyland had alot of parades made every few years back in the 80's to early 90's.

Yep, so did WDW. We had a "Bicentennial Parade" for 1976. That same year they added the "Celebrate America" float to the MS Electrical Parade. [Guess what temporary MSEP float is still around and came back with the MSEP, which itself was supposed to be temporary this time?]

They had all kinds of simple parades for movies. Lion King and Mulan had them. Toy Story had one in Disney-MGM Studios.

These were all temporary parades (not including the MSEP float). Not to mention the CBJ Christmas and Summer shows that were temporary.

But we all know that the folks currently in charge think that nothing can be done that fast today. Obviously it takes five or more years. Not to mention a few more-than-inflation price increases before they can even think to budget it. What were they thinking back in the twentieth century?

Wishes is looking more and more like remaining until 2021. But don't quote me.
RoE could continue as a show format but with changes and upgrades.

As long as there's no Pepto Bismol pink birthday cake castle in the plans......

The castle doesn't need to be this shade of pink. The castle shouldn't be pink, anyway. Cindy's gown color is BLUE, not Pink, Disney. Sheez, you'd think they'd know that. ;)

I guess if they decided to keep Wishes around until the 50th, it's still a good show, but Main Street Electrical Parade for 5 more years? Eeek! They should get a new parade this year for the 45th then add new floats for the 50th.

Strangest one out of all the parades....Mickey Mania...

IDK if that's good for MK's bottom line or future till the 50th, but to me...YAY!!! 4-5 more years of Wishes with the Castle Dream Lights in Nov/Dec!:) :) :)

LOVE MSEP & DAWM but 5 more years? IDK. I'm guessing FOF and CTM will be due by the 50th as well? FOF could past the 50th but, I don't think this site would like that.
  •

What's left for ROE's Upgrades? Just fountains? It doesn't look it but, do the torches need refreshing/updating? Maybe more Pyro? They really should add an EPCOT Tag during F & W Festival since its over Epcot's Birthday. Epcot's 30th tag was out of this world!!!

Are we having a Frozen Summer this year? If so, who's doing it? I think Elsa's Castle float was at MK for the Christmas parade Taping, is it still there?

Perhaps compensation was tied more to guest satisfaction than cost cutting...

At this stage I'd take an announcement of a new attraction for MK on the 45th....atleast that'd be something...right?

To be honest I don't think there should be a celebration of the 45th. It seems silly and would diminish the 50th.

I DO, however, think there should be a new parade and new or upgraded rides nonetheless. You don't need an anniversary celebration to do that. (As, again, they showed in the '70s and '80s and early '90s with nearly annual new things and temporary things.)

I say, replace MSEP and maybe Wishes and give us a new CBJ Christmas show and a few other things this year (including new Christmas lights somewhere), in addition to Avatar and Star Wars coming in the other parks, and then do a big celebration all up big for the 50th, like they did for the 25th -- just no pink castlecake.

Spectro premiered as part of a huge 20th anniversary promotion, as well as a new day parade at MK and Suprise in the Skies at Epcot.

But yes, a new night parade certainly doesn't have to be tied into an anniversary.

I know the 20th was just as big as the 25th so that wasn't a good comparison to the 45th and the big 50th. Of course we do not know yet what Disney may have in mind. They did hint at the possibility of Celebrating the 45th. Obviously we won't see a new daytime parade since FOF is still new but we could see several other things. Maybe lol.

There is the possibility they may want/need to ease up the demand for Rivers of Light at DAK. Naturally a lot of people are going to flock to DAK this year since it's the only park that has something new to see at night. That could be a nightmare for DAK!
I do get the whole "mostly tourists" thing at WDW rather than locals like DL, but still everyone is going to want to see WDWs latest nighttime show! and only having one new entertainment offering this year could be bad, especially to a newbie nighttime park like DAK!
