WDW 45th Anniversary

He has a point...

I've never pretended to be anything BUT angry at how the parks have been run since 2010 or so. Just a constant stream of attraction and quality cuts and price increases.

Like the parks themselves and the CM's who daily perform the sysyphean task of making the magic happen with an ever shrinking pool of resources.

The management is another story they are running the parks into the ground for short term profit as for them I'll let my buddy Marvin tell the story

I'm surprised at the mention on the blog for the 45th. Gotta get ready to plug that cupcake and special park map! ;) But seriously, I'd love to see them do SOMETHING to acknowledge it, but with the 50th a bit more special I'd find it hard to believe they do much next year. They could easily promote all the new things at Epcot and Animal Kingdom as an overall part of MK's 45th. We just got a new day parade. We'd have heard of a new night parade by now, I'd imagine. We'll probably get a Wishes replacement because that keeps being talked about around here.
If Spectromagic debuted as part of WDW's 20th Anniversary in 1991, then hopefully we might get some news about a brand new nighttime parade at D23 in the next 5 or 6 years from now. I love MSEP, but WDW seriously needs a new nightime parade at this point. Before Spectro ended in 2010, it was the main reason why I'm always looking forward to being at the Magic Kingdom at night. But seeing MSEP followed by Wishes doesn't feel the same since Jiminy Cricket hosted Wishes and Spectromagic which tied together perfectly.

I miss Spectromagic, MSEP is great from a nostalgia PoV and I never understood why on 2 parade nights WDW could not have run BOTH.

Is it out of the question we could see something new entertainment wise at MK for the 45th?

Interesting about the use of Drones for a nighttime show at WDW... Could this have to do with MKs new show?

Sadly I think you are correct. Remember when WDW actually did amazing stuff for anniversaries that includes the Cakesle which even though it was butt ugly It was an amazing piece of work regardless. And it was done in a couple of months...
That was for the 25th. This is the 45th...Why is the 45th significant? Disney is saving all of their surprises for the 50th right around the corner.

45 years is nothing special. I'm all for new offerings being brought to MK, but we know if they come on-board next year, we won't get anything new for the 50th. As much as it pains me to say this, I'd rather them just wait.

This acknowledgement speaks to the problem. You are really saying that a new major attraction now would preclude them from being able to have something new again IN FIVE YEARS.

Nobody told this philosophy to the guys who opened the MK in 1971 and continued to add new attractions or overlays or resort experiences over the next few years, including the CoP and Space Mountain within the park, outside including River Country, Fort Wilderness, Discovery Island, water ski shows, several hotels, The Walt Disney World Shopping Village, and not to mention later all of EPCOT Center within 11 years....

Yeah, building a new ride or parade every five years is expecting too much.

Yes
Supposedly, up until recent, the drones were going to be used for the Illuminations replacement but it was deemed too unsafe if a drone were to malfunction and fall into the crowd. A new show for Seven Seas Lagoon would have the audience/guests much further away from the show, theoretically making it safer.

What exactly would the drones be used for? Lighting? Fireworks?

So what Is the latest on the Wishes and Illuminations replacements?

I feel like something new entertainment wise could be coming toward the end of this year. Could just be that rumored stage show at MK but hopefully more than just that.
