Watchmen Watch Thread

Well, we've only had a teaser trailer. I think we should wait until the main trailer comes out so we can make a judgement.

My trouble with the trailer is he changed too much already of the comic. Spirit's costume is incorrect, in the comic you never see the Octopus' face, but in this you do, and he basically has the Spirit sleeping with all the Femme Fatales. In the comics he was devoted to his gal.

While visually it looks beautiful, it feels like it's lacking heart, at least to me. Granted I've only see the teaer and first trailer, things could change when they begin to show more, but for now, I am not too excited.

I saw the trailer on Sunday before TDK and I have to say I was very impressed. For years I've heard how great Watchmen is, and I figured it never could live up to all the hype so I've avoided it. The trailer changed everything though. I'm waiting for Amazon to ship my copy out to me and I can not wait for it to arrive. I'm torn between running around and learning everything I can about Watchmen, and waiting for my book to arrive so I can learn everything right from the sorce and make my own opinions. I'll try to wait, I just hope the book arrive soon.

I'd wait until you read the book, then go to whatever fan sites are out there and read all the rest of the stuff. Hope you enjoy it!

Outstanding...as is the follow-up "Dark Victory." I am being subjective, of course. The Loeb/Sale team is one of my favorites.

I second this. I love Loeb and Sale's work on Batman. Long Halloween and Dark Victory are excellent, as is the collected trade Haunted Knight, which collects their first three Batman Halloween related stories.

They also did a Superman book, Superman For All Seasons, which is excellent as well. They also did a book for DC called Challengers of the Unknown, but I haven't read it yet. Oh, they also did Catwoman: When in Rome, but I haven't read that one yet either.

They did a bunch of Marvel ones too: Spider-man Blue, Daredevil Yellow, Hulk Greay, Wolverine and Gambit, and are working on a Captain America one now. I've read the Spider-man and Daredevil one, and really liked the Daredevil one.

But, yeah, Long Halloween is great, it's a great trade to read.

Wow, I didn't realize the trailer was out. Seeing that, I think it still looks cool. But I'm not too familiar to the comics so it doesn't really matter to me, as long as its a good movie.

I'm kind of on the fence with Frank Miller. I like some of his work, but some I don't. Loved Daredevil Born Again, that was great, and of course Batman Year One. I need to reread Dark Knight Returns, been a long time since I read that, and I need to finish Ronin still.

So I stareted to reread Watchmen on my lunch break at work today. I got to say, I am enjoying it more than the first time I read it. I think it is true that you pick up on things more the more times you read it, which is pretty cool. So, first issue in the trade down, 11 more to go. Looking forward to the rest.

Yeah, I read it again (for like the 15th time) about a month ago. What is funny is I don't even own the trade. I have to un-bag all original 12 issues.:brick:

I was proably on the 5th re-read before I realized it was (*spoiler....highlight to reveal)...

Has anyone tried to buy the book? Been to four B&N's and a Waldenbooks and they're all sold out. A lady I talked to today at one of them said tons of people ask every day. Amazon is also not getting new stock in until 8/3.

Good to hear more people are getting turned onto the story, anyway. I read that a deluxe hardback edition is coming out in November, I think with things like original concept art, story pitch, etc.

If that's true, it's crazy that all that has happened because of the trailer. I haven't looked this week, but it's always been in stock up until now.
