If any of you out there have or have not seen Watchmen in theaters, PLEASE go do so! Even if you've seen it, seeing it again I highly recommend! Sadly ticket sales have dropped horribly due to yokels not getting it and telling their yokel friends to go see "Race to Witch Mountain" instead.
:hurl:

So please, PLEASE support Smart Cinema this week by seeing Watchmen!

I honestly can't believe Witch Mountain opened at number one. :brick: Its looks so terrible. Just another in a long line of 70s movies remakes from Disney.

And even worse, it looks NOTHING like the original. They just neatly lifted the basics of the plot and put in things that would sell to today's crowd. "The Rock"! "Car Chases"! "Stormtroopers"! "Explosions"!

Yes! Whatever you do, do NOT support the Disney movie... That's right... don't do it... do no- wait... what were we saying?

I forgot to mention, the Animated Short Film companion piece to Watchmen, TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER is now out on DVD!

I haven't seen it, but will report back when I do.

My local Blockbuster is only selling Black Freighter, not renting it. (BOO!) I don't know if that's a chain-wide decision, or just a store-by-store thing.

So I finally got the chance to see Black Freighter, and it was GREAT. Gerard Butler's mad narration will be REALLY haunting spliced in with the film. I can only imagine! The Under the Hood news report was also pretty good. A solid rent, and BUY if these features do not come on the ultimate DVD!

Ok gentlemen due to your resounding appreciation of Watchmen, I purchased the graphic novel for my 17 year old son. He read it, and gave it to me and now I have read it. It was VERY interesting. Being 43 and Archie comics and Mad Magazine were my only comic purchases I had no idea that comics had come so far. I want to thank all of you for your recommendations and for opening my eyes to something new!

No need to thank me, it's just my job.

*Tip of the hat*

DVD COUNTDOWN BUMP TIME!

Looks like we'll be getting a bare bones movie only DVD, and a deluxe Director's Cut DVD on July 28th. Looks like this director's cut won't be the ULTIMATE cut with Black Freighter, and that may come out in an ultimate edition in the winter.

a look at the Bonus Features and Cover Art:

So what do you think? Disappointing cover art? Angry at the lack of Ultimate Edition?

Seems like another Dark Knight DVD release to me. Good...but not worthy of the Film itself.

After a loooooong wait for Watchmen to hit the dollar theater here in Columbus (I know, I'm cheap), I finally watched it at the first showing this past Friday, and I loved it! I thought it was a very good adaptation of the book, and to be honest, I kind of preferred the movie ending to the book ending. I know they left a lot of detail out, but I think the movie still got along pretty well. I think that I would have been confused if I had seen it without having read the book, but that's kind of why I read the book in the first place.

I'm interested to see the Black Freighter piece but, again, am too cheap to go buy it

Looks nice! And I'm just happy to be able to watch it at home!
