Well, looks like I'll be keeping some secrets a little while longer I guess. :zipit:

Thanks Raven! Your post is just like the live videocast in that we got nothing out of it. Come on, please share at least something with us. It has been a disappointing day all around. :(

My understanding is that no character used at IOA can be used at WDW. That would CA as he had the diner and I believe that Iron Man and Thor are represented in the big cutouts.

I think it is actually no character that has a ride....but i could be wrong

After we hashed all this out a year ago, I was left with the understanding that Marvel is a complete thematic no-go at WDW in any form as long as Universal maintains the rights...even to the point that if Disney were to advertise Marvel characters at Disneyland, they would have to make clear in the ad that the characters are only in California.

Maybe the agreements Uni has with Marvel aren't that strict and Disney can use some characters at WDW...but since nobody seems to really know, I figured I'd weigh in.

Really? Where did you get that idea? The blog didn't have anything about a "major announcement". They had a story about a special announcement and exciting plans. Anything more was your own mistaken assumption.

Again, who said it would be a "major" announcement. Please show me where that was listed on the blog. Plus, if you didn't think there would be a major announcement, whey would you be upset?

Now, was the event satisfactory? It was exactly what I figured. Well, except for the lame/off-color jokes and poor performance by Bergeron. Have a feeling that's the last one he'll do.

That was exactly my point, there was no real expectation of any kind of major announcement, but that's not going to stop some people from hoping for one, being disappointed, and complaining about it. That's just the way the internet works.

I certainly didn't expect an announcement, I'm just dissappoined in the lack of any kind of polish or Disney flair to the event.

Bingo. This was very, very unprofessional looking, IMO. Big disappointment when you're used to the Disney Difference.

Not exactly an "exciting" announcement.

I usually like Tom Bergeron, but evidently he's off his meds today....

Anyone else think Tom Staggs was cute?

Not major...they called it exciting and special:

"It’s time – we’re ready to raise the curtain on some exciting plans at Disney Parks and it’s something you’ll certainly want to check out. Our live stream of the special announcement begins right here on the Disney Parks Blog today at 12:45 p.m. EST. You can watch it here:"

No and no.

I can understand that as I thought it was lacking. Of course, I can't stand Bergeron (or however you spell his name) and I cringe whenever the kids want to watch AFV. However, replace him and the press event was fine for what it was. They released their information, showed a couple of new commercials, highlighted a family and then debuted a new theme song.

I can see how people could have read that and hoped for a big announcement today. Clearly the marketing firm they are working with and the Disney fans have different ideas about what is exciting and special.

you know I just realized, I'm surprised there was nothing in the press release about Duffy coming to Epcot, I mean he is so popular and everyone can't wait to see him:rolleyes:
