Wow, glad I had to go into a work meeting and didn't waste an hour watching this. Why on earth would Disney hype something like this and do a live stream for it? I just don't get it. It's like they went out of their way to get their consumers excited only to disappoint them.

You DO NOT use a platform like that to solely announce a friggin' marketing campaign. Tie it to some big piece of news and organically roll it into the campaign. Disney knows their fans live for news about new attractions and expansions, so offering anything less than that via a hyped announcement was bound to fail. What a bummer...

You and I both! I got to feast on Olive Garden and go over figures and stats. Sounds like everyone else did the same minus the Olive Garden. :slurp:

Looks like we were both wrong on the announcements though.

Sadly...

No surprise that the thing had nothing worthwhile in it.

But man, for a company ad big an savvy as Disney, that presentation was laughably bad. I mean terrible. It was a trainwreck from start to finish.

They can't do that, that would be a good idea;) I honestly feel the same way about FLE, the only thing I'm looking forward to is that Gaston beer fountain out front of the restaurant, but knowing Disney it'll get cut from the budget.

The fountain will be there but no liquid flowing... :hammer:

How annoying will it be to pony up for a monorail resort with theme park view only to have the castle dark and see photos of unknowns floating across the night sky.

So I am guessing Wishes is going to be replaced? On that test video it says something about the nightime show and the new song being used. If this is true it kind of bums me out.

If that is the case, let them hang onto Hulk, SM, and DD for a while. Unless the diner specifically a CA diner. Get CA, Thor, and IM over here ASAP.

No. Just no. Marvel characters are not what Disney needs to succeed. They need to start creating unique, original attractions again that AREN'T based on existing franchises.

WWoHP was able to recoup its construction costs and generate a profit in less than 3 months after opening. Imagine what Disney could rake in if they gave the Imagineers a little more free rein and weren't afraid to spend money on creating the best possible show quality for their guests!

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this announcement but I was expecting it to be better than this! It was definitely way over hyped for what it was and a let down... felt like a complete waste of time. Again, I wasn't expecting major announcements like some; however, I thought they would announce at least something vaguely interesting (like hyping stuff for the 40th even if nothing too specific) but got... nada and the whole presentation with pretty annoying

I don't need specifics, although they would be nice, but please tell me there is good stuff down the line that will knock my socks off. I mean that PC was a joke.

Plenty of good things planned for WDW. No time frame on any of them but a couple should be announced soon. I thought they would release a few today but maybe the teleprompter dozed off.

While I would like to see original attractions as well, using a WWOHP (an existing franchise) reference doesn't really work. If we got an attraction of Spiderman quality you wouldn't take it?

The thing is if it wasn't labeled as a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT, I probably would have just checked in here later on got the low down. Instead I wasted, and continue to waste, time on it because I thought we were getting some Major Announcement. This info should have just been a press release and nothing more.

Really? Where did you get that idea? The blog didn't have anything about a "major announcement". They had a story about a special announcement and exciting plans. Anything more was your own mistaken assumption.

Taking the lack of major announcement out of it (which I think very few of us had any hope for anyway) you feel that that was a satisfactory press event?

Again, who said it would be a "major" announcement. Please show me where that was listed on the blog. Plus, if you didn't think there would be a major announcement, whey would you be upset?

Now, was the event satisfactory? It was exactly what I figured. Well, except for the lame/off-color jokes and poor performance by Bergeron. Have a feeling that's the last one he'll do.

If Disney thought that way, why buy the property? Obviously there is intention. Maybe not right away, but in the near to not-so-distant future. From what I've seen over the years, everything that Disney owns, outside of regional programming, is displayed at one park or the other. Plus, Adding Marvel into the mix at the parks, gives boys something to look forward too. Not just princess stuff.

They could start of with just M&Gs for the time being and then either convert a ride or build an all new attraction.
