I think Tom Bergeron drank a 5th of jack before doing this live show, what a drunk tool bag.

This was as interesting as watching grass grow, although i didnt turn it off, in hopes that there would be some great new info other than making memories. How disapointing this was!:fork:

I felt the slightest flicker of some interest in this when I thought the photos on the castle and IASW were going to be real family photos from past vacations. Even if you don't know the people, it would have a fun, authentic feel to see snapshots from a bunch of old photo albums.

But if it's just going to be boring, posed PhotoPass shots, then I don't see the point at all. Why would anyone want to see a bunch of strangers striking the same pose in the same handful of Disney-approved locations? Major snooze IMO.

Alright, then I say they should use them..you've got a Thor and CA movie coming out next year, but instead they are sitting there thinking "Hey I know, lets plaster family pictures on our loved icons, that will bring them in":brick:

Who is in charge for Marketing for Disney. If it is true that Thor and CA are available to Disney and the marketing dept is jumping on plastering a bunch of strangers on the iconic building instead of two figures that will EASILY earn a billion dollars between the two globally. Well someone should get fired.

I mean you own Marvel. Marvel is a cash cow at the movies. You have a park dedicated to film and tv, and you DON'T take advantage of the opportunity? I'm sorry. If I am Disney, any Marvel charachter available to me should be in the park. Especially the ones that will be on the big screen in the near future i.e. IM, CA, Thor, Hawkeye, Etc.

Taking the lack of major announcement out of it (which I think very few of us had any hope for anyway) you feel that that was a satisfactory press event?

It was a play on the new campaign slogan, which seems quite accurate. And lets be real, people would've found something to complain about no matter WHAT they said. Jakeman predicted the outcome perfectly.

My understanding is that no character used at IOA can be used at WDW. That would CA as he had the diner and I believe that Iron Man and Thor are represented in the big cutouts.

The thing is if it wasn't labeled as a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT, I probably would have just checked in here later on got the low down. Instead I wasted, and continue to waste, time on it because I thought we were getting some Major Announcement. This info should have just been a press release and nothing more.

I do like the projection system from what I see here, but they could do so much more with it than photos of other people. A new show with the Tinkerbell effect starting things off would be neat.

And yes, the entire show was a waste of anticipation for such a weak announcement.

Gotcha, of course people will complain- you can't please everyone and complaints tend to be much louder than compliments. I was just hoping to hear from someone who actually liked the event and the castle idea.

I think the promtional campaign is a good one. It showcases what a Disney vacation is all about. Its a shame the song is so bad and the pictures will likely be pretty rough too. The average family vacation photo doesn't tend to be of a very high quality, certainly not what we're used to when it comes to official Disney photos.

I hate the idea of the photos on the castle, especially after seeing the test footage (yes I know its a TEST). It looks like a cheesy vacation powerpoint presentation.

Here is a test of the new projection system running on the castle
http://www.wdwmagic.com/Events/Let-...ories-Begin'-castle-projection-test-video.htm

The initial parts looked very promising. And then the MS slide show kicked in and ruined it all. Tink looked awesome. The "drawn" look to the castle looked awesome. And even the video quality of the stuff at the end was awesome. But seriously? Posed photopass pictures? Meh. Doesn't do it for me. They may make up to 500 families happy each day, but come on. They made more memories as part of their dream giveaway.
