Wand coming down in the fall?

Corrus, Lee........come on! You all have been awful tight lipped lately. No that that's a bad thing though....
Corrus made his statement. I'm gonna just sit over here quietly and watch for a little while. This is kinda fun!

There is a known door at the equator.
I think you're flattering it a little bit. It's more like a hatch than a door.

Well, regardless, if you put up a crane it can be used to put things into/out of SSE. The top, the equator and the bottom all have access points. They may not be big, but it certainly easier to put whatever you want in through the nearest hole rather then to try and lug it up the stairs or use the elevator (which is not always convienent located).

There is a known door at the equator. That's why Marni needs to let us know where the air handler actually is.

Just guessing, but the exchangers would/should be in a location that is easily accessible...

Exchangers need maintenance frequently and I doubt they would put them in a place that required a crane to replace them.

It had better be a big door for that type of work.

I just felt the urge to point out that I read this entire thread. I enjoyed it. I like the fact that the wand is sparkly (I'm like a goat, I like shiny things), but I totally can see how a 'bare' SSE would be much more striking, and would love to see that too. I also don't think Thrawn has revisited the forums under an assumed name.

I also heard from a friend whose cousin used to date a guy whose sister's bff's mom worked at WDW that the wand was being redesigned as a putter, and, also, can I use refillable mugs for, like, every vacation, even though they're three years old from Animal Kingdom Lodge, I can refill them next week at Pop, right? :p

And the one on the very top also, correct? The hatch used for Mickey to go up and out for the commercial taping some years ago. I could see them using a crane to lift smaller show items in through the top hatch (depending on size) rather than trying to take up through the attraction. Though I guess using the rail system to get stuff up would work just as well.

My friend knows a gentleman who used to be one of the Cast Members responsible for replacing the lights on the wand. They used a cherry picker and of course a harness system. Both failed and he fell in the planter where the base of the wand is located. Broke a ton of things, but still works out at Disney.

So, in summary: save the cast members, remove the wand.

Well, that explains why the lights on the wand stopped getting replaced.

And if can find it again, i'll find that website of the company responsible for the Wand. Yeah, someone designed and did the strucutral stuff for it and has it in their "crap we did" folio. They were exceptionally proud of the harness system for repairs and such that they came up with. We'll write them nastey-grams and tell them they suck.
