Funny, when I go to Epcot, the last thing on my mind is the wand, I feel I have better things to think about. I guess it must be the people who are not there who must complain about something....:ROFLOL:

Man, I swore I would never post to a wand thread again, but.....:hammer:
When I go to Epcot it is the FIRST thing I think about. As I am approaching the park, it just irritates me because in my opinion (key word) I think it is such an eye sore. Then all day, whenever I'm trying to take a great picture of Epcot, I find myself constantly wishing the wand wasn't there. I have always LOVED Spaceship Earth and ever since I was a kid remember always gazing at the "ball" no matter where I was in the park. Now instead of it being majestic, I feel it has an element of tackiness to it.

OK, now I am going back to JUST READING these wand threads!:dazzle:

Sorry, I just don't think the wand will ever come down, just by considering the money already invested in putting it up.
 How much they spend putting something up has never stopped them from tearing it down. It will come down eventually. Nothing stays the same in Disney.....nothing. The thing is, how much longer will it be up, and will they replace it with anything, or just take it down and keep SSE how it was originally?
But mark my words...it won't stay up forever. ;)

forever? No. Probably closer to as long as Cinderella Castle stays up.

It is rather amusing that you brought up Cinderella Castle, I just heard from an incredibly reliable source that the Castle is to taken down by Christmas and a new DVC resort is to be built in it's place.

When I was in-park this past Sunday and Monday (Mem. Day wknd) I had three different CM's confirm to me it was coming down this year...

They did not have specifics, one offered it up randomly... 2 mentioned after I mentioned taking a cannon, or a strong wind to it.

I guess we'll see.

It seems like either they are circulating the rumor, or they have been told.

Well, one litmus test..

Marni, would you need a crane to work on SSE's air conditioning or air handler room? Where is it located?

:lookaroun

Have you... erm... :lookaroun seen... :lookaroun a crane... :lookaroun near SSE? :lookaroun

No, but someone said that one would be needed for the work mentioned above, and that they talked to the general contractor and that same crane is supposed to begin quietly taking down the wand after the interior work its doing is complete.

I've read this at a few other sites as well. Though, this rumor has been passed around for so long...I wouldn't believe it until Disney officially makes the statement.

For what purpose would a crane be needed for SSE interior work?

Unless they remove portions of the exterior and open up the sphere how would they lower something into SSE with a crane?
