Wand coming down in the fall?

What does any of that have to do with the contract? I didn't say they weren't interested, I was replying to the validity of the claim that there was wording in the contract regarding it. There is not.

I find it very interesting the huge amount of juxtaposition involved in what this 'reliable source' is posting. If they wanted the wand gone so badly, as are the claims, why was their first request to have the wand say 'Siemens'?

One more thing, exactly what changes have been made to SSE's exterior? The mirror column has to be replaced to get the refurb done, that was a known factor. I hope you're not taking things like new railings as a sign that the wand is coming down.

Leverage. This aint their first rodeo.

I will be forever grateful to Siemens if they de-wandify Epcot, and welcome the words of anyone who shares that vision of the future.

I also agree. There is no need to try to improve on a masterpiece. You dont see anyone trying to "bling bling" the mona lisa do you?

They could always melt the wand down and have enough steel for part of a new attraction... or sell it to universal since they will need the steel anyway ;)

none of us have seen the contract! If your refering to the press release...the press release's job was to announce the partnership of Disney and Siemens and to hype the new features coming to the actual attraction inside Spaceship Earth they aren't going to announce a minor thing like the removal of the epcot wand or the removal of the Leave a Legacy Kiosk infront of SSE. However a private email sent out to Disney managers the day of the press release said that exterior work to the SSE area would "continue into 2008 with a final completion date for the entire project in Spring 2008".

I mean when they added Jack Sparrow to Pirates the press release hyped the new charecters..it didn't say anywhere in that press release that they were removing the parrot from outside or remodeling the queue.

Siemens put Disney in a no win situation. Whether or not the Siemens being on the wand is irrelevant. WHat matters is that Siemens told Disney that if the wand doesn't come down, they would do something that Disney does not like. Whatever that may be.

And that anyone would believe Disney would even consider for an instant to have a giant sign for a sponsor above the parks icon is absurd.

Ummm...

Are you sure about that?

Well, you're kinda right. Someone on this forum ahs seen the contract. She only posted about it once and has not mentioned anything else. She is very pleasent person and knows when to keep quiet for the sake of her job.

Now you, on the other hand, are pretending you've seen this contract and I have no doubt in my mind that you have not.

Disney has final say on everything ... if they don't like it, it doesn't get done. The only thing they could possibly do is pull out of the contract, which would be lose-lose.

You can doubt it all you want. What you think really doesn't mean anything to me.

If you have an 'insider' that you trust has seen it, go ahead and ask if it says anything about the exterior or the wand.

It doesn't matter if it mentions the wand or not. Im sure it also doesn't mention the removal of the LAL kiosks either. Perhaps a seperate contract was written up at the last minute for the wand?

Why in the world would Siemens care about the wand??? Just because most Disney fans on this site do not like the wand does not mean the majority or even close to the majority of Disney visitors do not. All Siemens cares about is that their name gets out which is why they sponsored SSE and had their Sylvania division sponsor lighting and RoE in the first place.

The wand may come down but it is not going to be caused by Siemens.

I stand corrected... I should have known that the Champster is really Michael Eisner posting incognito, and that he knows everything there is to know about all things Disney.

... but Mike, how come you didn't you recall that TWA was once an airline and a paying sponsor or that the Moonliner was once a Disneyland park icon?
