Every wand thread deserves this:
EPCOTburned.jpg

Finally! This is great news. Can I post this picture on another website?

I guess I should have credited the photo to the orginating site, but I thought everyone knew where it came from!

I thought it was going to hover over where the LAL tombstones are being relocated :lookaroun

Maybe it will become the weenie for the Extinct Attraction Theme Park. :lookaroun

But probably, more fill for the landfill, I doubt that even MouseSurplus could sell it!

If you put anything up for sale, someone will have at least a sliver of interest in purchasing it.:drevil:

I myself would like to see it relocated to the entance to Epcot at the parking booths. Then again some enterprising entreprenuer might set it up and charge Wand haters $5.00 a pop to hit it with a sledge hammer.:D l

Wouldn't your neighbors love you if you had it in your front yard.

Oh yes!! I would have an EPCOT themed house just like someone I know designed his house to look like the flintstone house.:ROFLOL:

Now all I need is that big ball thing. Do you think a regular golf ball sitting on my lawn would be fine??:lookaroun

They said the only way the wand would stay up is if it said "Seimens"...and of course Disney would not allow it, and thus Disney and Seimens are working out on finances to pay off the wand and star's removal.

Wait wait, did the 'reliable source' that said it was coming down in fall post this quote too? Or are you getting this elsewhere.

Because the absurdity of this statement is astounding.

This statement is very true. It has been mentioned before and the source posted it in a couple of places this day.

The Siemens contract makes no mention of the exterior of SSE at any point.

And that anyone would believe Disney would even consider for an instant to have a giant sign for a sponsor above the parks icon is absurd.

If Siemens had tried to make that part of the contract, the deal would never have been done.

If the contract had been contingent on taking down the wand, it would already be down.

Siemens is sponsoring quite a few different things within TWDC. From SSE to Illuminations to commercials and lots of other small things. But they would not try to make such insane demands on TWDC. Especially considering that Disney has made quite a few (albeit somewhat minor) concessions to Siemens already.

The wand may come down. It probably will not. However, to say that Siemens asked for it to say 'Siemens' or otherwise it would have to come down is downright ridiculous, and shouldn't even be considered as a possibility.

This rumor is partially true. The wand will be down while they relocate the ICBMs from under the castle to under SSE. Once they're securely in place, the wand will go back up. Fully loaded.

Sorry champ, it's already been proven that despite what the press release and PR woman said, Siemens is very much interested in SSE's exterior.

I think a good bit of research on German architecture, the respect of Buckminster Fuller as a visionary, and desire to not have adornment would lead most people to see why Siemens, a seemingly uninvolved party, desires the wand to come down.

God not another one...I'm posting to make a formal suggestion: from now on, unless there is a press release or proven documentation from Disney itself that states the removal of the wand from Spaceship Earth, threads concerning its removal are banned.

Please, Steve or a moderator, I beg of you, this has got to stop.

For the final time, the wand is going no where for a long, LONG, time.

Well said, Merf. Anyone who has ever worked with a PR rep knows that reality and their version of reality are two very different things.

More to the topic at hand, I'm tired of folks who say they are "sick of a thread" on some topic and then insist on filling their thread with negative comments. If they are sick of a topic, wouldn't it be far more sensible for them to avoid it?

I will be forever grateful to Siemens if they de-wandify Epcot, and welcome the words of anyone who shares that vision of the future.

What does any of that have to do with the contract? I didn't say they weren't interested, I was replying to the validity of the claim that there was wording in the contract regarding it. There is not.

I find it very interesting the huge amount of juxtaposition involved in what this 'reliable source' is posting. If they wanted the wand gone so badly, as are the claims, why was their first request to have the wand say 'Siemens'?

One more thing, exactly what changes have been made to SSE's exterior? The mirror column has to be replaced to get the refurb done, that was a known factor. I hope you're not taking things like new railings as a sign that the wand is coming down.
