I think their issue is cost...there a rather big false premise that 25% of the rooms/parks means 25% of the cost.

That’s the problem when this is present as “simple numbers”

Disney needs to take this to a place I’m not sure it can go fast enough
Disney had to crunch the numbers and know what it would take to open things. They are cutting tons of costs with the parks themselves. 10 hours per day in the parks, no parades, no shows, no character meets, some rides and attractions closed. They aren‘t lowering the price. They eliminated the free DDP so everyone staying is paying full price to eat. Keeping whole resorts closed cuts down on costs too over opening everything at 50% occupancy. I think they know the summer is sunk.

I’m just cautioning people to not expect empty hotels/parks...

They wouldn’t be open with that reality.
In sure it’s going to be “busy” - but I’m thinking more 2015 Epcot in January.

Ah. We were wondering as I had seen rumblings of moving guests around. We're supposed to be at all star movies suites, so I was seeing if there were any Indication that night be true.
I'm assuming at this point they are only going to open dvc resorts. So anyone booked at a non dvc will get moved. Thats just my thinking on it though.

All of the deluxe resorts except for YC have DVC. They could still take out floors or wings of the deluxe resorts if they choose to. I think they will keep a few moderate and values open too. Maybe AoA and Pop plus CBR then they can keep the skyliner running too. CSR is heavily rumored to be the front runner for NBA. I could see them keeping the All Stars and maybe part of POR too closed.

I'm totally ok with an upgrade. I've always wanted to try new resorts, but we usually stay at POP as my wife and I are park nomads and basically use the hotel to pass out before dragging our bodies back to the park. We went all-star for an affordable suite for my neiee and nephew as we're taking them this time. Shall be interesting to see how everything plays out and if they move us where we end up.

My guess would be they consolidate value reservations into a few resorts. I picked Pop and AoA due to location and skyliner access but they could just as easily go with 2 All Star resorts too. For moderates I’m not sure if they could fill all the need with just CBR. It’s possible they open half of POR or they could move some of the CSR people to Wilderness or AK lodges. YC if it stays closed could be reassigned to BC or Boardwalk. Something like that. There was also a rumor CR may not open and only the main concourse would be open for BLT guests. In that case CR guests could be moved to Poly or GF. All speculation on my part but I assume they will keep all or part of some resorts closed to keep costs down. I don’t think anyone will be downgraded. You should get an equivalent or better room if they move you.

Thats about what I figured. We've been dying to try skyliner access, so that would be cool with me. Where we have a suite, that would be art of animation if they open it. After that I'm not quite sure where they would put us.

The family suites are popular so they should have somewhere with them open. I would think the skyliner is easy to social distance on due to individual cabins. Makes the most sense that they would keep it open. Easier than buses

These people think a mass email communication is a binding agreement...the prince of Nigeria also told them he is giving them their inheritance to the kingdom.
Wait. I just got a email from some prince saying I had a fortune waiting for me, if I would only transfer the 500 dollars so it can be sent. Are you saying it can’t be true? I don’t believe it.

That's what we thought too. We had intended to drive to AK,EPCOT and DHS since we drive down, but if I could cut that to AK, and bus to MK that would be perfect honestly. To me skyliner seems easy. Hand sanitizer before, one party per car, hand sanitizer after

Still no email here. 9/7 arrival, staying at POFQ. Or we were, anyway - we’re 99% sure we’re going to postpone this trip to fall 2021 now - but I do find it strange that we haven’t heard anything from the Mouse yet. Doesn’t really matter since we can’t modify our trip right now anyway, so no loss.

Wonder if our choice of resort has something to do with it? If they’re looking to close resorts temporarily, FQ would make sense.
We're staying at FQ in late October, and our stay is still booked. ADR's are disappearing, but Disney says our resort stay and tickets are good to get a park reservation when the time comes.

Ah, I meant that I haven’t even gotten the generic email from them about how they’re cancelling the dining plan, ADRs, etc. If it wasn’t for this forum, I’d have no clue what was going on. Sounds like I’m an anomaly though.

First I'm not sure who that person is on Twitter. Second I have seen numerous people with reservations and not tickets get an email that said they have Priority Access coming and to wait for more contact. It actually says they have tickets even though they don't.
Yes, but some people have got that email with APs that expired two years ago. That, coupled with the tweet now that I know who she is, makes me nervous.

I agree with you but I think Disney is looking at this primarily from a financial standpoint. Who do they think who has reservations, who is going to spend the most money, and who will keep their reservations and attend for the dates already booked. I’m guessing but a party that already has tickets, had FPs and ADRs is in Disney’s eyes more of a “sure thing” than a group who didn’t or doesn’t have tickets. Following the idea that it’s about money, they’ll probably want to ensure their deluxe guests’ happiness and satisfaction first, then moderates, then values. If guest attendance is limited they want to capture as much revenue per guest that is possible.
You don’t need tickets to book ADRs. And people who were too far out won’t have booked FPs yet.
If you have a reservation for September and only some have APs, not having booked tickets for the rest is perfectly normal.
This will upset a lot of people, many of them DVC members and AP holders bringing members of their family or friends.

Exactly! It says they have tickets and they don’t. And if the tweet is true, they are SOL.
