I’m surprised that (as far as I know) there has been no mention by Disney of the water parks. We have tickets for the H2O Glow nights are Typhoon Lagoon fur 7/15 which I’m assuming will be cancelled. I’d just like confirmation so that I can make dining plans for that evening. Stinks because when we tried to go last July we were rained out. Guess it’s just not in the cards for us.
Disney has told Cast Members that the water parks will not open initially while they focus on getting the theme parks up and running. And even if the water parks reopen I believe they would cancel H2O Glow under the cancellation of all special events and extra offerings. You should look for a refund which Disney should do automatically. If not I would give them a call

Somebody stumbled on the big picture...

This is the same analyst that initially said the parks weren’t opening at all until 2021. I usually take financial analysts with blood pressure rising grains of salt.

I’m not sure that wasn’t a valid analysis at the time...with so much unknown. There are arguments to be made for scrapping the year and resetting as well.

This...however...was always the truth.

I wonder if Disney is watching closely how dead Universal is.

There's a mandatory quarantine for visitors from the NY tri-state area. Those outside of the USA can't go yet.

The simple fact is the only people who can drop everything and show up to Universal right now are those who live a short drive away, and they normally don't make up a high % of daily visitors.

Key Things:

Disney already knows it will be slow.
Universal knew and still does know how slow it will be.

The question is, how much MORE money do they want to loose and how fast do they want to loose it?
Parks WILL lose money thru end of this year. In fact, likely into next year.

Everyone (ahem the Disney Bloggers) seems to forget you can't just turn it on like a switch after scaring the Karen's for 3 months straight with horror show covid virus videos on the nightly news.

I'd compare this to, during March - May, restaurants operating for take out only. Sure, it's not ideal and operational costs are likely at or near the revenue coming in, but it's still a necessary step in the reopen process. Their profit will be operating at a probable loss for a while, but that doesn't mean they should stay closed as they should be making back at least some of their losses.

I guess I should clarify. By that term I mean two tickets per day as they do now for Holloween, Christmas and Villains events etc. Sort of like happened with Epcot's festivals becoming almost year round. The App could make something they are already doing in increasing numbers much more efficient. It's a trend I don't see them stopping. IMO.
Sadly, this sounds about right. Selling day parts may come to be eventually.

I know it sounds like a money grab but it could mean much lower crowds, less stress and a generally better experience for guests if done properly. The App would be integral. Imagine getting what takes 12 or more hours now in 8 or less. But that is moving into armchair imagineering now.

I'm still trying to figure out if the reservations will be capped. Not just "show up at 10" but also "leave by 3". How would they enforce folks who's time is up and still lollygag around the Emporium? (or worse, stuck in the line for a bathroom)

Everything they’ve done for 10 years has slowly moved towards “block pricing”...whether intentionally or unintentionally. I’m guessing the former.

And that’s really on the consumers...and it’s probably not good.

Wait... they haven't been cleaning those things all along?!
I had a buddy that worked at a casino in AC. He told me the cleaners very rarely touched the remote except to put it back in its place. That was years ago and since then I don’t think I’ve touched one in any room without a glove on or towel wrapped around it. He said it was the most bacteria covered thing in any room. So hopefully with the wrapped remotes in a NEW bag for each new guest will be a good thing.

The same way they do it for the parties - wristbands. That or through the app.
