Cue the “I’ve never ever seen a bug while drinking a beverage” crowd.Just sat down at the boardwalk and a bug landed in my drink. Another reason lids are nice to provide guests.

An insect could have landed in your food too. It doesn’t mean they should provide guests with cloches.Just sat down at the boardwalk and a bug landed in my drink. Another reason lids are nice to provide guests.
The ‘it doesn’t work 100%’ fallacy strikes againAn insect could have landed in your food too. It doesn’t mean they should provide guests with cloches.
Actually…. My cole slaw had a lid, my sandwich was wrapped, and my canoli was in an enclosed container. An insect could have landed in your food too. It doesn’t mean they should provide guests with cloches.
So the poor bug chose the only available option.Actually…. My cole slaw had a lid, my sandwich was wrapped, and my canoli was in an enclosed container.
That's not it at all. We don't cover our drinks with lids when we're at home or in our gardens just because an insect might land in them. Why should things be different at Disney? The ‘it doesn’t work 100%’ fallacy strikes again
I assume you didn't eat it all with the packaging still on.Actually…. My cole slaw had a lid, my sandwich was wrapped, and my canoli was in an enclosed container.
I don’t think your home is a commercial food establishment- it’s standard to be given drinks with lids at any major fast food / coffee shop, etc.Why should things be different at Disney?
Because it soon won't be standard, and we all have to adapt to drinking lidless as we already do at home, in bars, at non-fast-food restaurants, etc. (I've already acknowledged that they need to provide cups that are designed to be used without lids. People are right to complain about that.)I don’t think your home is a commercial food establishment- it’s standard to be given drinks with lids at any major fast food / coffee shop, etc.

Doubtful. The lid wasn’t invented for fun - it serves a very practical purpose.Because it soon won't be standard,
They're already banned in France (and probably other countries too, though France is the one I know about because I travelled there this summer). People there are handling it just fine, including at Disneyland Paris.Doubtful. The lid wasn’t invented for fun - it serves a very practical purpose.
Oh we do, do we? You'll have to pry the lid from my cold, dead hands![...] we all have to adapt to drinking lidless [...]
I didn’t realize the USA was known for following in the footsteps of the French lolThey're already banned in France (and probably other countries too, though France is the one I know about because I travelled there this summer). People there are handling it just fine, including at Disneyland Paris.
You may laugh, but these are shifts that are happening the world over and are already impacting the US, as Disney's change in policy demonstrates. It's only a matter of time.I didn’t realize the USA was known for following in the footsteps of the French lol
This is what would makes sense to me.It takes no effort for the person who is handing you the drink to ask if you need a straw. See the difference? By asking, it let's the guest know that they're available. By hiding them behind the counter and not offering, the guest will quite possibly assume that there are none to be had.
When you can’t even get one when you ask, that is an even bigger issue. Especially when you are putting out signs saying “just ask.” What a joke.this was my experience over Labor Day weekend. Every place we asked said that they did not have any lids.
See now THIS is a problem. Folks are saying, bla, bla, there is no problem, just ask for lids and straws, bla, bla, and this is actual proof there are no lids.this was my experience over Labor Day weekend. Every place we asked said that they did not have any lids.

I know its a big pain but you really should go back and make them provide you a new drink. Its the only way to make them see the problem.Just sat down at the boardwalk and a bug landed in my drink. Another reason lids are nice to provide guests.
