Walls down at the Castle Walls

I must've missed where they announced this. I don't mean that as a smartass comment either... there've been so many things announced I have a hard time keeping up. That said though, aren't those the teacups all the way to the right in this picture? Isn't that the same place they are today?

EDIT: I used the old image by accident so just replaced it. LOL

The Tea Cups in this photo have the new glass ceiling like in DLP they were thinking about, just a rumor, but I heard they might try to move the tea cups.

OHHH ok so it is a rumor you heard and not official. Sorry the way you were talking about it I thought it was something definite that I missed. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Actually, the Tea Cups are going in that big open area between the Carousel and the wall (Mine Train is on the other side of the wall). . . it is perfect sized. Makes sense, families with small kids can park their strollers along the wall, around these attractions and enjoy both without having to move the stroller down to where Tea Cups is currently located.

The photo ops will be great Carousel and Tea Cups and the castle, and even the castle walls!

And as they will put in planters and trees around Tea Cups . . . plenty of shade in a high traffic area.

No way could I see them doing this, there is not enough room, we need a google maps comparison just to prove this is not possible.

First off, it looks really great. So much better then I thought it would when I first heard about putting walls up in the area. Secondly, I LOVE ALL THE SEATING!! So smart to make the edges all butt-friendly like that. It's just acres and acres (*ok, slight exaggeration but still!) of places for people to sit. This is so smart. People will always look for places to sit whether it's meant to be that way or not, so brilliant of them to plan for it.

Actually no . . . if you Google Map Magic Kingdom, you'll see an old photo showing the old Dumbo spinner, and relatively size to the Tea Cups. These attractions are comparable in size (be sure to remember Dumbo's queue), there will be plenty of room for a big walk-way, even tree covered, around the Tea Cups when it is moved into its new location. A lot of room actually as you'll be able to easily walk around the whole attraction.
Not a chance.

Even if they squeeze it up next to the carousel (which they would never do), it would still obscure the path through the castle walls (which they would never do) and destroy the cleverly placed sight lines of SDMT (which they would never do).

This picture (or any in that album) proves my point. If you say its about the size of the carousel, which is true, it wont fit.And if it could it would look like crap. Something may go there, but it won't be the tea cups in their current form.

I've given all the facts I can. That's all I will say on this topic.

This is probably a reeeally stupid question, but can you get to the "Enchanted Forest" by going round the wall? Or will the wall connect with an existing building in current Fantasyland?
They look beautiful, I can't wait to see the whole area (minus Mine Train) at Easter!

I agree. I squeezed it into the biggest open space that is available and it just doesn't fit well without making major changes to that area. Note the read and green lines are where the castle wall is now.

There will be an opening over by Friar's Nook and Pooh so you don't need to go all the way around.

I love how you state that as a fact.
Considering there has never been a rumor of Disney doing that, or even a remotely good reason for doing so.

Truly amazing. WDI is back.
I don't think WDI ever left . . . but their budget sure did.

EDIT: I suppose I should mention the Castle Walls . . . I like it so far. I think it will add tremendously to the theming of the area (I've yet to see them finished in person). I do too wonder about the big open space on the Courtyard side, seems kind of empty to me. Some well themed planters could do wonders for it. I can't wait to see these completed and in person!

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

Am I the only one waiting for nighttime photos of the walls? I want to see if some torches light up!

In the recent post of wall pics here on WDWMagic, in picture number 12 the small panel on the left in the arch sure does look kind of temporary as if somethig else will go there. And also in pic 22, the panel above the light fixture sure seems to look temporary as well as it looks like screws holding it up. Any ideas?

I look forward to wider and higher angle views to see where and how they are in relation to all the pre-existing show buildings, etc.

Some of us wont get to see these for awhile:(

I know a ton of people on this site have wide angle lenses and nice cameras that can help, if not I can try and help with my new camera. It will be the first time taking it to the parks. Wish me luck next week!

They were all shot on a 10mm SLR lens - you aren't going to see any wider without fisheyes.
