People who asked in 1990 when Disney would racially diversify its cast of female leads were met with ridicule and hostility too....

I think we might very well see some more realistic women in Disney movies. In fact, I think Lilo and her somewhat dysfunctional family qualify already. Although she is not a princess, to no small degree owing to that very reason.

I can't speak for every child out there, but are they really that concerned with having a princess share their disability, body size, etc.? I have Asperger's and I don't think I've ever once thought "I wish there was a Disney Princess that had Asperger's Syndrome." I just enjoy my favorite characters for what they are and don't think much about how they relate to me. I don't think you are wrong for having these wishes at all, it's just not something I've personally given much thought to.

Hey Kate, my daughter has aspergers as well and she said she would love to see a Disney Princess with aspergers. I think to each is own.

What about a Disney princess that has pre-marital "romance" and winds up with a teen pregnancy? That's an issue with our society today...
But pregnancy can be prevented. Once pregnancy becomes a full blown disability, like hypochondria, then they may consider a pregnant princess.

I figured I'd throw it out there. It all depends on the period in time that Disney would want to put the story in, should they go that avenue.

I think your motives are in the right place, but I just don't see this kind of thing working in a movie without feeling overtly preachy. Remember folks, these are cartoons, not HBO dramas. I mean, I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to see is a cartoon about a child with a terminal illness who struggles throughout their life and passes away at a young age.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
As someone else posted, type I diabetes is not preventable. And not all forms of type 2 diabetes can be "prevented" if you eat right. There are those of us who have a genetic form of type 2 despite "eating right"...your comments are offensive. Get a clue.

Thank you! This is correct. Those are some of the biggest misconceptions of the different types of diabetes and how to manage them or try to manage them. See/hear this all the time!

Forget all that after school special nonsense that ruins the fantasy and escapism of entertainment.

Anyway, Disney-ABC Domestic Television has already given us the princess, prince and sidekick of the future and they have very relatable issues. My 4 year old DD and six year old DS love this program, so we're hoping for a Season 3:

Well this comment is meant to be hopeful/helpful not rude.

There are people that have reversed their type 1 diabetes (through Gabriel Cousens program) And many many people reverse or manage (no medication) genetic diabetes through diet and things like nopal cactus.

So you are right, people should be more considerate of others but people should also be more hopeful of many genetic disorders.

And on the topic, it could be any of those princesses. Maybe they could
Call on the whole food plant based diet fairy and get out of the wheelchair, reverse the diabetes or the obesity. I've seen all those so it wouldn't be a stretch for an animated movie ;)

I am torn between a princess with negative symptoms of schizophrenia and one princess with a personality disorder--either narcissistic or histrionic. I'll have to think about this a bit more. :)

Heck, you know, let's go the whole hog and have both!
we have the wicked step mother & sisters. close enough. o_O
