Did not read all 8 pages, so I do not know if this was mentioned.

When we were there in at the End of Aug., all the chickens on the back of the boat were not working and there was another one that looked dead. But, it looks like they were never fixed and it has gotten even worse.

And some say Disney quality has not been dropping... yeah right.

That makes little to no sense. If you feel that strongly, wouldn't it make more sense to sell DVC and stay elsewhere for less money?

Not if it is paid off. Plus folks would be saving money by not paying for Park tix and perhaps(forbid the thought!) doing something else in the area.

Not to go TOO far off topic... But we've found a better "adult" experience (bars, casinos, etc) and better kids programs for FAR less money on Royal Caribbean. The quality of entertainment was fabulous on both, as well.

For our money, we'll do a week (or whatever) on a RC cruise, then tack on a few days at Disney at the end of our trip to get our Disney Fix, and still come in at a lower cost than just doing a Disney cruise.

To each their own, though. You're definitely correct in saying that DCL is a good product. That I wouldn't argue.

Agreed on all counts. I love the DCL, but RC is simply a better cruise deal. Even on the new Oasis class ships.
Granted, I haven't been on the Dream yet...

i do like the way how 2 of the birds are at least TRYING to move... kind of swaying from side to side. lets hope they fix it soon!

So...I've read every post on here, and all other threads which discuss issues of disrepair, and I wrote Meg Crofton last summer and got a phone call from her office, but...things are still broken? How is this possible? :)

Anyway...many posts state that 'Disney' needs to do this and do that, but who exactly is 'Disney'? I want to know who the person, or people are, who can fix this, and what it will take. Disneyland had it's years of neglect, and now it's stunning. Exactly how did that happen?

And for those of you who do know a lot about this type of thing, what will it take at WDW?

(I do assume that things will improve at some point because people don't stay in the same positions within a company forever, and it's people who make decisions. For example, I assume the new Studios 'boss' is somewhat responsible for the return of nightly Fantasmic! showings and 'The Comedy Warehouse Gig')

This makes me sad . Hate to see any ride get neglected like that, ecspecially splash, since there seems to be a pattern with problems there. . Here's hoping its a quick fix.

People ask, why stay at Disney but not go to the parks as a DVC OWNER. The hotels aren't falling apart and in disrepair as are the rides and atractions in the parks. We got a suite and one single room, last time we went at boardwalk with lake view, if we paid room rate for that week as listed it would have cost 13,000$ just for the rooms....now I know about all the discounts and such but the DVC paid for itself that year.....We just don't find the parks that thrilling when things are broken but they still charge Huge amounts to get in....Orlando has so much else to offer, but the places to stay...don't match Disney.

I once rode Splash Mountain with ALL of the animatronics off, but all the audio was still playing. It was creepy/awesome. I told the CMs when I got off, just in case they didn't know.

A few minutes later, it was closed for a short while. After re-opening, everything was working again.

Also I am in no way excusing the lack of maintenance that almost certainly led to the situation, but I do have to say that, with Big Thunder down, I can totally understand the decision to keep the attraction running that day.

What you have to understand is that, unfortunately, that is the mentality of today's park guests. "I don't care if you have to fix something! Its inexcusable that I can't ride it right now at this very instant!" - every guest.

Exactly. Disney seems to think that people stay at their hotels for the hotel experience, and that the parks are just something to do while there. The hotels where built to accomodate people visiting the parks. They don't offer anything unique that you can't get at higher quality, lesser-priced hotels (excepting, of course, ease of access to its theme parks and EMH). By continuing to patronize their resort hotels wihtout going to the parks, you enforce this belief by Disney that the parks are secondary to the hotels, and therefore they will continue to manage the parks as that.

Reminds me of my Small World experience at Disneyland Paris. About 1/4 of the way through the ride, all the audio turned off but the dolls kept moving. It was without question the creepiest ride moment I ever had.

See, I just don't get this. Disneyland often closes more than one E-ticket for refurb. In fact, when I was last there (in 2010), Frontierland had no operating attractions. I remember when I was 10 and we went to DL the following were closed: Space Mountain, DL railroad, POTC, Jungle Cruise, Autpia and IASW. WDW can certainly shut down Splash Mountain and BTMRR if it's needed.

But I have mentioned this before? Is there a reason they can't fix something as it breaks? I would rather the ride be closed one or two days during my trip than a month or two and thereby closed the entire trip.

While this is sad to see, I would find it hard to believe that ALL of the animatronics were broken. Most likely this is the result of a switch, relay or circuit that all of those units are on being broken, shorted or just not functioning at the time of the video. Regardless, I agree that it's bad show, but hopefully one that is quickly rectified.

Broken to me means not functioning properly. Even if there isn't something mechanically wrong with each of the animatronics, something was causing all of them to be motionless at that time. So as far as I (and most other people I think) look at it they are currently broken.

Different kind of park guests at DL than WDW. A lot of the guests at DL are locals, or people who have been there multiple times. WDW, on the other hand has a good majority of their guests who are first-time or infrequent (once every 6-10 years) visitors and those who come further distances and pay a lot more. So, it's harder for WDW to close multiple high volume attractions at once. If they do, the number of complaints goes up significantly.
