Vegas is like Epcot

I can definitely see the similarities the resorts in Vegas present the same idealised view of the various locales that world showcase does.

I enjoyed Vegas as much as Disney when I visited but I haven’t been for a long time. I don’t gamble but loved the various attractions, shows and food

I also got a similar vibe when I visted Macau from Hong Kong

Coming from damp england it was also exciting to be in the desert

My comparison to EPCOT--

Drinking- check
Eating- check
Elaborate Ginormous show buildings- check
World showcase- check
Entertainment- check
Streetmosphere- check

I can even add a mix of Disney springs in there with volcano Cafe and planet Hollywood. 😂 Plus the Cirque shows. Mwah.
If you go out at late night, you will get some bonus experiences,,,
  • Inebriated adults puking in the bushes - check
  • Hyper attractive women in sequined dresses taking a group tinkle in the bushes - not check
  • Homeless people digging in their jibblies and wiping the residue on passersbys for the giggles - not check
  • People gambling in a single bet what you make in a month - no check
  • People being rowdy and argumentative for no apparent reasons - check
  • Monrail - Check ...I think it is almost exactly the same one too.
  • Public Transportation leaving a whole lot to be desired - Check
  • Suprise b3wds and booties when you least expect it - Check! lol

When you have virtually unlimited money to play with you can build whatever you want. Money just rolls in freely from gambling sources that never ends. Never heard of someone losing their home and life savings on a bad streak of bets at Disney. If Dis had the resources these guys have they could do the same.

Doubt Epcot China will ever come close but the Asian cuisine in the Macau resorts and casinos is out of this world.

There is a lot more to it than that.

For instance, Disney could take note of what it means to treat people special... so that you get more spending from that person. Or how they build loyalty.

Absolutely. Disney could easily operate to Vegas standards if it wanted to, and for years it sort of did. The contemporary resort was modelled on a vegas resort with fine dining and supper club etc

If you take MGM Resorts only about 25% of revenue in Vegas is from gaming, the rest is from the other services like lodging, meals, shows, entertainment, retail etc. Most people probably spend far less gaming than they would on disney tickets on an equivalent vacation so Disney could operate a similar model but they chose not to

One unique item in Vegas but not in WDW the abundance of noodle/soup locations on the Strip resort facilities. Asian gamblers believe in a lot of good luck and long life , noodles (signifies long life and fortune ) and soup are not only comforting and delish but one of the aspects in attracting their dollars to feed the casino . Gambling is a part of the Asian culture and Macau and Vegas have first class Asian cuisine to feed the gamblers so they can enjoy the cuisine and gamble more...

I've gambled with guys from Asia. A lively bunch with lots of cash to spend. We spend time at the tables, go slurp some noodle soup , and gamble more.

I won't discredit the folks saying that I should have visited in the 90s. I was born in 98 sadly.

This must be what it feels like to head to EPCOT for the first time in, say, 2023. You don't miss what you don't know. 🤷‍♂️

This is another way Vegas and Disney are similar to each other, they both went 100% on theming back then and both have moved to a more high end, generic, look over the last decade.

I still prefer the themed stuff, I’ll take the Bellagio and Venetian over City Center, Wynn, or any of the other generic new office towers they’ve built.

PS, I highly recommend O at the Bellagio, best Cirque show in town by a large gap in my opinion.

I thought the Wynn was super duper nice though!! Best poop in a stall I've ever had in my life.

Venetian is a bucket list for sure though.

Don’t be naive. The casinos are being built with luxury and atmosphere to loosen up the wallets, get you to drop all your money and go home broke. It’s a rigged system . Every build is done with purpose to get you into the frame of mind to take higher risks and have no thoughts of stopping putting your money down for the next bet. They aren’t delivering all they have to be kind to their guests. They are there to fleece you. Loyalty means nothing, it’s getting you back to dump your savings.
Dis wants you to spend your money but it isn’t there to bust you. There’s many Vegas stories of patrons leaving broken and bloody. Not a fairy tale that there’s bodies still out in the desert that haven’t been found.

Casinos keep the interiors at a very cool AC setting probably keeping the gamblers awake , and no clocks and no windows. To get to the money cage to collect your winnings you have to still walk through the casino with some dropping some of their winnings on the one arm bandits or lose in the fool's gold wheel of chance. Free alcohol to entice you to cloud your judgement and to keep gambling, high rollers get comped rooms, food and drink, hotel services, etc all to keep you gambling.

Uhh.. thanks captain o? Did you skip over where I said "so that you get more spending from that person"?

All discount and loyalty programs are there to DRIVE MORE BUSINESS - not be charity. That doesn't mean they can't be beneficial to customers and Disney has a lot to learn on that front.

As long as Iger has the full support of the Board through 2026 , that's wishful thinking.

As many have said...Vegas wasn't built on winners. As for loyalty, my cousin was banned from all M properties years ago for a good run at the balckjack table at New York New York where they swore he was counting cards. As a rated player he always had a free room and comps on their property and that went up in smoke. Would Disney do that to guests? Again the comparisons are just well, not quite the same.
To OP, did you see the Sphere? Going to see U2 in December at it!

If you're not gambling or drinking, you feel like the most important tourist in town. 😂😂😂
