I used to be able to scroll over my alerts and they would pop up. Now I have to click on it every time. Also the return to top of page is gone. I would like to see those 2 things back if possible. I use my PC and it is very very white and bright, almost too much so.
For the whiteness part, click on the lower left corner Style Chooser and click on dimmed full width. It tones it down quite a it - much easier on the eyes. The return to the top is still there it pops up as soon as you start to scroll upwards.

The back to top is there with a an upwards arrow once you reach the bottom and start to scroll back up.

The white can be changed by using a different style (bottom left of screen).

Alerts are now consistent between touch devices and desktop devices with a touch or click (hover is obviously not available on touch).

The standard font looks..... better?

I should say Steve, and I didn’t earlier, thank you for all you do.

Just a note on the font issue.

Previously we used a web font. So the idea there is that the browser downloads a font and uses that to render the text. Advantage being it tends to look the same on every device. Disadavatge is that the browser has to download the font and then render it - which takes data transfer from your device and then CPU time to render it.

What we are doing this time is to use native system fonts (which are much better nowadays than they used to be). So on iOS for example, you should be seeing the native system font - which is San Fransisco. So fonts on here should look the same as in native apps like the email app etc.

Advantage of native system fonts is that there is zero download and very little processing required. Which in theory is better, and reduces cellular data transfer fees if someone is using their phone.

Am I still seeing San Fran but as a bold version ?

I usually browse on the 10.5” iPad Pro and it’s certainly easier on the eye than this afternoon.

It is 1 point larger than it was when you first saw it. And that tends to bulk it up all round.

The last font we used was very tall and narrow, the system font is a lot shorter and rounded - which makes it looks smaller when infact it is the same as before.

Fonts - lots of fun!! Not ;)

I just wanted to say thank you for the edit to the quotes back to the orange highlight! It's really appreciated and nice that feedback is welcome on this site.

Of course! I want to make it the best forum for all of you - I've got no other motivation. So feedback is always welcome and I'll always do whatever I can to make changes in the best way.

If possible, could the 'new' button please be moved to the left margin instead of the right? As I scan the posts, I'm scanning the left side of the screen, but the information about which post is new is all the way over on the right.

I thought my iPhone was hacked when I checked this site...

But in honesty, I thought the old “look” had a better, original “style”. Now the forum looks like most other vBulletin forums.

If it’s possible to have the option to go back to the previous look, I would jump at the chance.

Steve - I, for one, admire and appreciate the patience you've shown with us all today. I'm sure I'm not the only person here who's felt a twinge of guilt for not being a paying member and yet asking questions as if I should have some control over any changes made. :joyfull:

I'm fine with the new look, but the new generic avatars were just a little too generic for me. I was hoping to set some kind of record for oldest member without an avatar. I miss the weird old question mark. But it inspired me to finally upload an avatar which you can see here for the first time.

I, for one, like the new look of the forums. It's very different, but not in a bad way. It is and will continue to take some time to get used to, but I like some of the new features a lot (such as likes in the PMs!). We will all get used to the changes, and since some of us spend more than our fair share of time here, it may take a little while, but I'm sure if we look back at a later date, we will say we are happy with the change!

Thanks, Steve, for your dedication and hard work throughout the years. I, and many others, are very appreciative! Your site has allowed me to create so many great friends, and for that I am grateful! :D

Can you offer any more on how you are finding it awkward on desktop?
There's a lot of white. Maybe if the posts made by users were a different color from the background, it'd be perfect. :)

Like I said, though, I'm sure I'll be used to it given a week or so!
