Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Thanks. I hope you're right about the water rides. I've been on pirates 1000 times and I somehow don't remember getting wet. Lol.
Pirates isn’t a water ride where you get soaked like Splash Mt but there is a mist effect and some splashes in the water from cannon fire. Those could be easily turned off with the ride still operating.

This is true. Not a big deal in the grand scheme but I just kind of wonder how necessary some of it is.

We're expecting a July 17th announcement tomorrow at Noon PST.

As always, it comes down to the California state government. Newsom was saying just weeks ago that we wouldn't see crowds allowed through the rest of the year. How that will affect California's reopening plans has yet to be seen, but ultimately they're in charge of Disneyland being able to reopen. The only thing I've heard out of company sources thus far is that WDW will open before Disneyland, and that Disneyland is a very serious challenge to open with any social distancing protocol.

I think they had actually enhanced the cannon effects because over the past few months they actually were kind of soaking the boat. Much more than normal. I'm guessing they'll just turn them off to be safe.

I know you are not suppose to do this on any of the water rides but my friends have reached into the water and splashed each other from time to time during the Pirates ride. That could be one other reason why the boats are wet. :)

You shouldn’t do that.
Guests have come off Pirates with less fingers than they started with by doing just that.

There's a good reason why they tell you to keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the vehicle at all times.

At this point, I would be shocked if DL opened by July 17 unless there are magical mice suddenly scurrying around the parks, shops, and resorts. While much smaller, they still have similar issues as WDW - particularly with hotels and DVC. It would be great if it happened, though.

They could just open the parks or just DL park first and then go from there. The resorts could stay closed initially. I still think they may need a reservation system for the parks though.
