Tusker House Vs Chef Mickey's

I currently have breakfast ADR's for Tusker House breakfast and Chef Mickey's dinner. I just looked at Chef Mickey's dinner menu and it doesn't look that appealing to me. Now i'm trying to decide if I should change my CM dinner to breakfast and cancel Tusker House altogether. Then I may add Sci-fi as a replacement. Any suggestions are appreciated!:animwink:

CM bfast is a must!! I love it! Haven't been for dinner so I can't compare to the dinner. But I think it would be better then Sci Fi - I am not a fan of Sci - Fi - never have been. Donald's bfast at Tusker House is fun! Not as fun as Chef Mickey - but fun!

I changed my ADR from Donald's to Chef Mickey's breakfast. Then since I still had one more restaurant to choose from we are going with Sci-Fi. I think my husband and kids will enjoy it. We wanted San Angel Inn, but it is being refurbished during our visit. We got all the ADR's we were hoping for and the wait was only 4-5 minutes on the phone.

That's great that you got all the adr's you wanted. I love Chef Mickey's breakfast. We are going to dinner on our next trip. The kids and I enjoyed it in 2006 but my husband coudln't go on that trip. He wants to try it since we talked about how much we liked it. We did Donald's before it moved. I liked the food there too.

Have a great trip!

I can't honestly give a fair opinion since I never have been to Chef, but I will say Tusker is great food and lot of fun, for kids and adults!!!

I know you already changed the reservation, but Chef Mickey's dinner is good. I was very happy with the food choices. You really cant go wrong either way though, I did Tusker House last vacation and the food there was very good (though not quite as good as Boma)

I love Chef Mickeys!!!!!! A friend and I went on our trip in October and had a blast. A few days ago we were talking about ADRs to make for our Spring Break trip and were trying to figure out another character breakfast but decided to go back to Chef Mickeys since it was so fun.

I'm not a big fan of Sci-fi because I can't justify spending that much money for atmosphere.

Do you know the dates for refurbishment?

Thanks

I like both of those. Chef Mickey's dinner is nice and Tusker House breakfast has Daisy Duck and that's the only character meal she appears at.

I would not recommend Chef Mickey's for dinner. We went and I did not care for it. The Contemporary was under construction and it was so noisy in there and it was so dark. We had dinner at 6 and it was not dark outside, but it was kind of dark in the resturant. The buffet did not have a great selection that my daughter wanted to eat, unless you count the ice cream....:p I didn't try there breakfast. But I keep hearing it is pretty good. I did have a GREAT breakfast at Ohana. That was the best breakfast we had our whole stay.

I would've made the same call you eventually did - CM for breakfast, TH for lunch or dinner. Not to cast aspersions on CM for dinner (I've only eaten there for breakfast), but I really enjoyed Tusker House when I ate there in December for lunch. As much as I miss ye olde Tusker House, what was one of the best QSRs on property, this is a great buffet, whereas the breakfasts for both restaurants seem similar enough that one is as good as the other.

I mainly changed CM dinner to CM breakfast because I didn't see a whole lot my kids would like on the dinner menu and didn't want to spend a TS and they barely eat anything. The other thing is my DH loves a good breakfast so really it worked out both ways. CM will be great for us all.
As far as San Angel Inn goes, all I know is we could not get ADR's for May 24-27 due to refurbishment of the restaurant. I'm not really sure when that begins/ends.

We ate at Chef Mickey's for breakfast twice and dinner once during our recent trip (we stayed at the Contemporary). We loved the food at dinner every bit as much as breakfast. The main difference for us was the service. Both breakfasts we had terrible service which is sooo not the norm. At dinner we had excellent service.

We also ate breakfast at Tusker House (this was the 2nd time for us) and loved it. The food was great, the characters were awesome, and the service was excellent.

If I had to compare the 2 breakfasts I'd say we enjoyed Tusker House more but that's mainly because of the difference in service. If service were not a factor I wouldn't be able to choose one over the other. I love them both!

TUSKER by FAR/. It has the best flavor and most variety of anywhere we ate at. The wait staff is superb. If you get up to go to the buffet they make sure that no character misses your table while you are gone. The juice is to die for that they serve. We ate at Crystal Palace, Tusker, 1900 Park faire and Captains Grille at the Yacht Club and all were so much better that Chef Mickey's last year. Tusker was by far the best of all and so says our 5 year old grandson..

Count me in for Tusker House!! In my opinion the food, characters, and ambience there far exceed their counterparts at Chef Mickey's. I'm just not a fan of the oh so popular Chef Mickey's... and our experience with breakfast was that the character interaction was very rushed. That being said, our character experience during dinner was one of the best (back in 2005 when Chip and Dale were making appearances).

So we've tried dinner and breakfast each once and if I were ranking character meals, both are on the bottom of my list (with especially low marks for food).
