TTA to be replaced with...GYROBALLS?

This dude on laughingplace says he saw the imagineering plans for New Tomorrowland at Disenyland and said that among the concepts is a "gyroball" type attraction to go on the peoplemover track. It is a new generation of ride vehicle that sits two people and allows them to rotate 360 degrees.

Al Lutz had mentioned this attraction awhile back stating it would include an "interactive" element that would allow the passengers to actually rotate the ride vehicle themselves. Seems intersting and im wondering if it opens at Disneyland and proves popular could this eventually replace the TTA at Magic Kingdom?

Here is the original quote concerning Tomorrowland from Mr.F:

"-The NEW New Tomorrowland
Another revamping of Tomorrowland is being planned. This New Tomorrowland would have a Silver, Blue, and Orange Color scheme, similar to the current color schemes of the Tomorrowland Cast Member Costumes. The Astro Oritor would be painted to match the new color scheme, and relocated back to the top of the old Rocket Jets Platform, but instead of Rockets, passengers would now be strapped into Jet packs, and experience the sensation of flying (Like Superman). The old space at the front of Tomorrowland (Where the Astro Orbitor is currently Located) would be converted into a fountain, as well as the two planters to the side of TL's Enterance. The old People Mover Track would be home to a new Gyroball ride. Riders would be completely enclosed in a clear sphere shaped vehicle which would turn and flip them around as it traveled along the track.

-Star Tours 3.5
This is the tittle I saw on some storyboards for the New Star Tours remake. One storyboard showed Darth Vader with some Storm Troopers, and another showed Star Speeders traveling through Tatooline. I'm guessing they want to make a different movie for each planet, since there were storyboards for each planet."

I don't think it's likely at all. I've seen this report before, and we know that hopefully we won't get gyroballs. By the way, this was for DLR's Tomorrowland, not the Magic Kingdom.

Rumor has been circulating for ages...don't expect it to happen any time soon (especially with the current TTA rehab).

Yea im not expecting it to replace the TTA anytime soon but if it does get built at Disneyland they could bring it over here down the road.

Well if its for Disneyland, its not replacing anything since the track sits vacant.

See the bolded.

Anyway, I don't know enough about the history of this gyroball idea to know if it will ever come to fruition, but if it does, I'd imagine it taking another 10+ years to make its way to Florida. Seems like a novel enough idea, but honestly, I'm content with TTA being a relaxing attraction. The only thing I ask from it is a few additions where there is currently dark space.

And to be clear, this rumor isn't and really never has been for WDW's Magic Kingdom. This is a Disneyland thing, and like someone else mentioned, their track has sat vacant and basically slowly rotted away since Rocket Rods closed in 2000. Anything is an improvement to that for sure.

I understand what he was saying, but there is quite a difference between putting something in vacant space and replacing something to put it in.
Especially when they are as cramped for space as they are at Disneyland.

The idea sounds more 'Epcot' to me, for Florida.

I have heard that the Rocket Rods had actually done structural damage to the supports and that anything else going there would be a MAJOR undertaking.

No proof on this, but the damage does sound feasible.

Yeah...this idea's been around a long time, pretty much since The Incredibles had that sphere they were riding in.
True, there is a New Tomorrowland plan, but I haven't heard that this has gone any further than blue sky.

I don't see it as a viable option for TTA. DL's PM track is much longer than MK's track, and much of it is just out in the open.
TTA has more show scenes, and wouldn't seem to work well with a spinning ball.

All in all...I'm cool with it for DL.
But, hey....I dug the Rocket Rods.

Nah. They could put a new ride there with very little problem. The damage was more to the vehicles, not the track.

Sounds Gyro-licious. I can't wait for it to come here, but I hope that WDI knows that they'll have to theme and clean parts of the ride never needed to be cleaned...

Im just confused as to wether you can actually go upside down in the ball and stay like that for the entire ride? or is it merely being able to rotate around slowly? The former seems way too unrealistic and dangerous even for bluesky.

Too bad the original Peoplemover couldn't come back in a newer updated version. I kinda miss the slow moving tour of Tomorrowland. Although, that Mag Racers concept that Eddie Sotto proposed for Sci-Fi City would be awsome. Or even Tron Cycles...

Anyone have a demonstration video of a working gyro ball vehicle? I am curious to see what it looks like.

Couldn't find a video, but here's a pic from a recent proof of concept test:
