So where's your "easy" explanation? We're looking at a picture. We're not immersed in the attraction. Our minds aren't playing tricks on us. We're looking at a 2D picture and the figure is there.

So, again I ask, where's your explanation? Is this picture actually real? or is it your imagination? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

The easy explanation for the picture in my mind is someone just happened to be looking back. His eyes are glowing, you cannot tell where he is looking, so I would say he's not looking directly at the picture taker. And as far as it being imaginary, I didn't say there wasn't someone in the picture. I said that it was easy to jump to conclusions because of where the picture was taken. If this picture was taken on SSE, no one would have given much thought beyond it being some kid looking back. Again, it's about atmosphere playing tricks. It's a lot more fun and creepy to imagine this is a real ghost than to blow it off as just some person looking back in a doombuggie. Don't take offense, I wasn't attacking you or calling your picture a fake. I was merely stating that your mind will play tricks on you in a location such as HM, ToT or PotC where it's already a dark and creepy atmosphere. You're not likely to get many reports of ghosts on SSE, JII or the seacabs on TLS because there's a good deal of light or the atmosphere itself is not very creepy.

Personally I would have been more creeped out if this picture of this kid had been taken at Sounds Dangerous. Imagine a kid in the dark looking straight back at you at the moment you took that picture.

Although this is a very unique photo and a consequentially interesting thread, the simple truth is this:

There are no such things as ghosts.

It is clearly a person (most likely an adult, as the doombuggy is a few units ahead of the camera) who has turned to see what's behind them, not necessarally the flash of a camera. I've done this myself a few times on this attraction, it's not difficult to do. Heck, maybe that IS me that's in the photo! I assure you that I'm alive and well.

This is still an interesting thread though. It is fun to speculate.

Not trying to argue, I just asked for an explanation for your affirmative. It seemed so certain I thought maybe you had read something.
Hey, this is a discussion forum, you're entitled to your opinion, I'd never try to make you change it ot bash you for it.

Once again, i will weigh in and reinforce that the photo isnt fake. Its clearly a photo of a little boy. That much we know.

Whether its a photo is of a ghost or THE little boy or not, lord knows.
But it wouldnt surprise me if it is.

I am not trying to bash you either. I was just having some fun with this. I apologize if I have come across otherwise. :)

You are certainly entitled to your opinion as well, and as I do not believe in ghosts, I do not slight those who do.

I find this particular thread entertaining, as The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite attractions. I was just trying to inject some reason into it. There are so many other explanations of what this photo actually is, other than a ghost.

Its clearly a photo of a child as seen through nightshot on the IR spectrum. Whether thats THE little boy, i have no idea.
Ive seen stranger things happen.

WOW!! That has got to be the scariest thing I've ever seen! I can't wait to get back on the HM ride! I'll be so freaked out even before the ride begins! I'll also definitely try to turn myself around and peek at the buggies behind me to see if it really is easy to do. Seems to me that when my daughter and I rode the buggies last year, and my husband was in the buggy behind us, I tried to turn around to look at him, but couldn't because the top sides were too wide....

Zak... your signature (or whatever that thing is called tagged at the end of all your messages) indicates you will be back to WDW in Dec '05. Any chance of trying to re-create this? Maybe he's waiting for you? :lookaroun

Scott M,

When I was in my younger years, I lived in a 500 year old building in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. I remember one evening, just after dinner, seeing a spanish soldier in a hallway of our house. Now, I know that Spain has a military... but since when have they had forces wearing 500 year old attire on US soil that disappear when you take a second glance at them?

Also, in 1998, shortly after my mother passed away, I was sleeping one night. It was a restless night. I could not sleep to save my life. Finally, I just said "to hell with it" closed my eyes and tried once more. I started to hear screams and someone was choking me. When I opened my eyes immediately, the screams stopped, but someone was still choking me. There was no one there. Finally, I punched at the air, and it stopped.

Now, I'm not particularly a religious man, nor a spiritual man. However, I do believe there are forces and things in this world that we cannot see unless they wish for us to see them.

I'm the type of person one would assume would not believe in the supernatural. But I do.

Scott M, you can feel free to be a cynic all you want, and ask for all of the proof you want, but unless you've experience something personally, you can't comment.

I'm not being a cynic, and I'm not asking anyone to prove to me that ghosts actually do exist. We are all entitled to believe what we wish. I certainly do not intend on swaying anyone from thinking differently than what you truly believe.

I just prefer to take the route of rational thinking. Most ghost experiences can be explained away logically, especially your experience that you had prior to falling asleep.

I do not wish to offend anyone, I just do not believe in ghosts and (not that it matters) I am certain that I'm in the majority.

Nest time you go to WDW, take a side trip up I-4 to Cassadaga. You might see something to sway you.

.

Remind me NEVER EVER to come visit you. I very much believe in spirits. I've had very few experiences but I have had experiences. I don't speak of them because I get very teary and scared to the point where I can't physically move.

I may be able to attempt another shot at it. I'll most likely have my nightshot again. As far as making it a must do on my vacation, I'd rather not. I only have a week to enjoy WDW, so. However, if I happen to have my nightshot with me when I'm on the ride, I'll snap a pic or two and see what comes up! :)

I've tried this several times since this thread was started. It is incredibly easy to do.
