I'd assume the hassle of doing the VQ for some people drives ILL revenue. Otherwise some would just wait in line for free.

Continuing to have the VQ is better for guests who want to avoid a line, definitely. It's not so good for operations/overall park capacity when they're sending empty ride vehicles, and it's costing Disney money in ILL sales.

It's also bad for people who'd like to be able to ride it several times in a day.

The VQ is so easy to get, though, that it's likely depressing ILL sales. It's not like all VQ spots are gone in seconds; if you want a VQ spot you can easily get one with no hassle.

If it was standby only, more people would buy an ILL to avoid waiting in line for an hour+.

I do both when I'm there, but I don't really enjoy the half hour line I still have after fighting it out for a VQ slot.

How much queue time fits into a physical space is relative to throughput. The attraction currently has most of its throughput using the Stand-By queue but was designed for less of the throughout to be coming through that queue. Allocating more capacity to the Lightning Lane will result in the queue holding a longer wait time.

Is it me or did they finish this at a horrible time. Look at RAT that finished and they held off opening it, but I dont see them doing that for Tron. And if they did.. then when open it.

November would be the earliest based on getting hype started and finishing landscaping (you wouldnt open it without the hype train starting).

So would you open a big ride at the holiday season of Nov, Dec when crowds are already high and enjoying the christmas season and overlays.

So that goes to Jan -March which historically is low crowds and allows them to do maint and closures to get things ready for the summer. Again possible but do you want to "waste" the opening.

Then you have spring break crowds.

Slowish april.

May would be when you would want to hold off opening at the earliest. BUT I cant see Disney doing another RAT especially with something so out in the open compared to RAT which was in a show building in the back of drink and walk... i mean world show case.


My gut is when Tron opens.. splash closes.

If opened around holiday time, it might influence some to purchase Christmas tickets.

Haven’t seen any yet today, but based on streams from last night, the main changes compared to the last photos in this thread were that the second fan-shaped section of concrete was poured, another similarly shaped form was set up to the right of the signage planter, the rightmost curb in the plaza was released from its form, and wire meshes for gunite application were added to the pillars of Light & Power. A lot of additional materials were on site as well. I probably missed some stuff since it was just a quick glance from the PeopleMover.

Rat was on VQ for 101 days before opening its standby line.

CR has been open for 103 days and counting, therefore it can happen any day now if they were to follow a similar timeline to Rat's.

It's slow season currently at WDW, so it's the best time to do it, imo.

As evidenced by the 7am drops sudden uptick the last week-ish:

I really can't imagine a timeline where they don't announce Tron's opening date on Sunday. I just hope they come out and announce it to start off the show. Then, they can update everyone on the international parks and end the show on newer things for Disneyland and WDW.
