News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Yes but you need to remember that Ratatouille was ready to open while attendance was reduced on purpose and foreigners couldn’t visit USA anyway… no point opening a ride when there were so many restrictions and you would miss out on all that potential… it was like wasting a new ride for nothing.

USA only opened in November 2021 to foreigners.. just a month after Ratatouille.

Now quicker they open something quicker they (re)attract visitors.

And I doubt they wouldn't open Tron without ILL, so the longer it takes to open, the longer they wait for that profit.

Yeah, but Universal opened new rides so it could have opened.

I get it from a business sense but also the frustration from guests that go regularly (even just annually at this point) to see construction take so long, things no opened that could be, etc

It's not wasting it for nothing -- there were still plenty of people at the parks who would have liked to ride.

They really weren't going to miss out on any potential because it would still be a new attraction for people who didn't visit during that time. It's not like people are going to say "well, that new ride looks interesting, but they opened it 6 months ago so now I don't care!"

Sadly it is..
it’s how business and marketing works.

Something new as a short term high impact, and a long term low impact. Like an iPhone. Fashion. And any other ventures..

A new product sells itself. Then marketing cost money. They wouldn’t promote something twice.

WDW is the most visited theme park in the world.. There was no point to open a ride to American while still there is restrictions and people not comfortable to travel yet..

It is missing big on opportunities here…

That's not how it works with a theme park, though. You can't compare it to something like an iPhone -- it's a very different type of business.

Disney wouldn't have lost out on any potential customers by opening Ratatouille earlier. The point was likely to save money on operations.

Business is business.
Marketing is marketing.
Whatever the product.

You don’t go to business school and ask for a theme park speciality.

It defy logic to launch something when most of the potential public wouldn’t have access to it.

Anyway.. Tron is ready to go.
As soon as they finished, they will open it.. they won’t keep it close for long..

Opening time frame now that they are testing human riders? I’m assuming November?

Business isn’t just business. That’s why there are ways to learn about the unique nature of fixed amusements. Not many business don’t generate direct revenue from their primary product the way amusement parks do in the post-Six Flags world.

In 2019, we were there Dec 4-8. Rise opened December 5, making it impossible for us to ride. This year, we will be there November 13-19 and based on updates, I have a feeling Tron will not open until at least the first week of December (Similar date of Rise opening) - also making it impossible to ride. Sigh. Reallllly hoping for an Oct 1st opening so we have a slight chance of doing this one!

It's not -- and this is one of the problems with business school.

There's a reason some corporations actively look for people who don't have an MBA, because business school is teaching a homogenized curriculum that wants people to treat all businesses as identical, and they're not. It's caused some serious business failures.

A theme park ride isn't the same as launching a product.

You're giving foreign visitors WAY too much credit for their impact on operations. Disney didn't hold off opening because people from other countries couldn't visit. 😂

You’re also giving foreigners way too much weight in their comment. Park capacity as a whole was heavily reduced which meant there was little to no attendance boost to be had from opening the ride earlier.
