News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

I will say this again, I personally believe Tron is being placed this way in Magic Kingdom because they know Space Mountain needs to go down for a long referb (aka, rip everything apart and replace) and there is no way they could loose this much capacity in the MK at the moment. So build and open Tron and Space for the 50th and then close Space Mountain for its long referb period. Ride the classic now while you can.

no I disagree with that. Tron is being built because it's a clone. Also, Space has roughly the same capacity as Splash and they refurbed Splash. If anything, space will be refurbed by 2021. I think makes far more sense to have space up and running when Tron opens.

I find it highly unlikely they would shell out $300 mil (or whatever it is) to build a new ride just so they can take SM offline for a refurb...

It's nice and all but looks kinda like any casino or a really nice shopping mall....

this. Seems to me like they are trying to make the Magic Kingdom more like the Shanghai park, I dont know just the feeling I get, maybe not so much now that the theater was canceled but has been feeling like the path they are on. Personally I would have rather of seen a new mountain range debut for the 50th, instead of a copycat shoved in coaster next to another coaster. But thats just me.

It shouldn't take 2 years to rebuild space. its indoors and they don't have to cross through the park to build it like SDMT.
It depends. Access inside the mountain is tricky for cranes. You can’t just drive in and begin to cut things up.

Reassembly would be as tricky. Like a giant 3D jigsaw but you can’t stand everywhere you want to build it.

Building a ship in a bottle. Tricky - but DL did it back in 2005.

They did. They had the luxury of a single track, no duel central lifts, no double height load/unload, no ground level entry / exit corridors down the central spine, no post show and no WEDway.

And it still took two years.

You know I more than most would love it to happen. We know they have a plan how to do it. But here’s an example of the confined space, before it began to be confined:

Now imagine having to do it working backwards from no room to some room to move.
