What a great story about meeting Gary! I'm not sure what younger kids do now to meet people. She'll figure it out, hopefully sooner than later. I just hate to think of my girl lonely. She is an introvert and likes her quiet time so that makes me feel a little better knowing she likes being by herself just a little bit.

The husband and I are going down in two weeks for a short visit. We won't be going to any Disney parks though. He's not a big fan, more like once every 8 years kind of a fan. Not sure what is wrong with him.

I'm still on my two youngest accounts but I'm sure that will change here shortly. I've been pleasantly surprised by their level of responsibility. We must have done something right if our kids are doing okay. I'm sure it did have a bit to do with us scaring them. I've told them enough horror stories to keep them on the right track
Does she like to read? I bet a book club would be a great place to meet people, AND reading is a great hobby for introverts. You go once a month for an hour or 2 to talk about a book and other than that, you have quiet time to yourself to read.

I might be pulling together a quick Nov 4-Nov 6 jaunt to Disney with Seth.
I'm this close.

Gary isn't cooperating. "I don't like Disney anymore."

Seth is coming home here to Pittsburgh for a drs appt for Fri am.
We've got AP's, the detestable park reservations made, a room cash 🤢 at WL. And I'm trying to figure out how to change his Sat. flight that would have been back to NY to a return from MCO to NY on Sunday, Delta.
We also need 2 one ways to MCO (and I need a way back to Pit).
All of this depends on if I can get his drs appt (that took 2 months to get), darn drs, moved up a few hours.

Maybe Gary and Joe can go on a vacation together and we can go to Disney with our kids! My last few trips I have been on were separate trips with my girls and leaving Joe at home, unfortunately they are shorter trips due to the guilt of going without him.

Good luck!! I hope it all works out!

Awesome, hopefully @cgersic won't mind if we need some advice too!

That is a really interesting tidbit on the Florida AP!
I am actually still on his student/soon to be adult bank account since he just graduated a few months ago.
Mom he says, when are you going to quit stalking my bank account? Ummm, when I'm not afraid you're going to end up sleeping on the streets!
He is historically an awful money manager. Never heard the term saving for a rainy day.
He told me in college he was going to have a 6 figure job. My reply was, you're going to be the only person I know earning 6 figures and living on the street because you don't have any clue how to save money!
I've been pleasantly surprised that he has actually been doing fairly well in NY. I think I scared the bejesus out of him.

I hope your daughter starts to find some friends. I'm sure it's a little lonely.
Don't know what is the thing/place these days, but I met my husband at our local YMCA. I was so bored when I came home from college I went there to apply for a part time job coaching gymnastics and signed up for an exercise class. He was the director there at the time!
39 years of wedded bliss later! 🤣
Hello all! How nice to have you thinking of me (@Zipadeelady) and I'm more than happy to help where I can. I'm in an area that was hit really hard by Hurricane Ian (Pine Island) and it's been a very rough month. @Tuvalu was kind enough to check in and I let her know that we are alive, and that's the good news. My dad's house and my sister's that she was renting from him are both totaled, so my family (dad and all 3 sisters) have been staying with me in my 2 bedroom condo. I've kept my spirits up only by stealing a few minutes here and there to catch up on some of the trip reports on here. I'm also an insurance agent of 21 years, I've got a lot of other families relying on me, so this is my safe, happy place and I'm so grateful for all of you - even if you have no idea who I am :) Cindy, I'll get in touch with you soon to see how I can help with Seth. Blessings to all of you! Camille

I was thinking this same thing!!
But, we have to ask ourselves why we would be feeling guilty. They're at home chowing down on chips and drinking beer doing a yahoo dance in the living room because they are watching football without interruptions and avoided getting nagged into another Disney trip!!

Well less than 24hours later, all of my plans have gone down the you know what.
Kid Fail GIF by MOODMAN

As I took a moment to think about the crazy I was trying to make happen I realized everything had to occur with perfect timing and if one flight, drs appt., etc. was not timed perfectly is was all going to fall apart.
Gary was grouching about everything and the only flights I could find that worked were Spirit and he gave me a hard no on that.

The good news is he was losing his mind when I booked us flights in Dec. to go to Aleisha's for Christmas because she can't travel then and now I used the 'well I'll let you out of this trip since we're going away in Dec.', hahaha!

Good luck!! Did Gary say WHY he doesn't like Disney anymore? Is it because of the mobility issues that he doesn't feel like he can be as independent? Or was he just in a mood when you asked him? My husband doesn't like Disney much, so E and I are doing a girls trip in August.

Why feel guilty going without him if he doesn't like to go? ;) I say just enjoy it and let him do something he likes to do that you don't! Maybe he actually enjoys himself at home. I sometimes look forward to a night or two at home without my husband....I can make whatever sounds good to ME for dinner, and I can read or watch what I want on TV, take a bath. Sometimes it's nice to have "me" time. My husband actually ASKED me to please go to Disney with our daughter without him because he didn't want to go and knows that we do. And my husband cheats with household stuff when I'm away. Instead of doing the laundry, he takes it to his mom, and he orders food he doesn't usually get, like Sushi, because we don't like it. So I think he'll actually enjoy himself while we're gone. And we'll enjoy ourselves SO much more when we're not having to skip things because the boys don't want to do them, or worry about them not liking the restaurants we pick, and when we don't have to go back and forth across parks to do an attraction we don't really enjoy because it had a long line earlier. We can just do what we want to do, go where we want to go...I don't think I'll feel the least bit guilty.

OH My!. I'm sorry to hear about your dad and sisters. I can't imagine the stress and uncertainty that you all are feeling. Hopefully that light at the end of the tunnel isn't too far away. So very nice of you to open your home for the family.

Oh believe me when i say it's nice to have time to myself and I'm sure he also enjoys his alone time, probably not as much as me though 😁. Joe likes to travel too and when I go to Disney it takes away from somewhere we could've gone together, hence the guilt.

He's just getting tired and it only takes a little provocation for him to get cranky. The current excuse is the multiple, admittedly, annoying nickel and diming Disney is doing combined with park passes, etc.

We've had a very busy last two months and I can't wait for it to calm down. Lily went to Homecoming.

And she ran in her last cross country meet ever.

Owen was featured on a school soccer poster which was fun!

And they finished off the varsity season.

Now on to finding him a new club team for the indoor and spring season.

Logan helped build the Homecoming corn monument this year.

Nothing says Homecoming at Iowa quite like an enormous edifice covered in corn. The tradition is believed to have started in 1919, when a group of enterprising engineering students decided the Pentacrest would look better with a bunch of ears of corn on it.

And he's been busy pledging the engineering fraternity.

Is everyone ready for Halloween? I am not and thankfully my kids are old enough that I don't have to come up with costumes for them if they want to go trick or treating! Logan dyed his hair blue for whatever they are doing there for Halloween this weekend, Owen has soccer try outs on Monday, so no trick or treating for him, and Lily dug out the old Slytherin robes that she and Owen wore one year for her and her boyfriend to wear on Monday. I hope to see pictures of everyone else's little ones in their costumes!!
