Completely random question, but have any of you ever eaten at the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall? (I had to google how to pronounce that!)
I was thinking the princess obsessed grands would like it getting to see a bunch at once.
Does any one have any experience with this? Thanks

We haven’t done it in several years but we preferred it to whatever is the name of the restaurant in the MK - for the experience and the food. ETA: we always did it when the breakfast foods were available; the lunch/dinner foods never appealed to us.

Ty, we like to do character breakfasts as a rule, so that works out well!
And that is also helpful as I was wondering how it would compare to (I assume you mean Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle?)

Yes, I did mean Cinderella’s Royal Table. We did CRT just once (just after my DD had a makeover at BBB) and I don’t remember if we had already done Akerhus the trip before or on the same trip but we have always enjoyed Akerhus much more.

We've done that multiple times. It was one of our must-dos when the kids were younger. Both ours loved Disney Princesses and it was cheaper and easier to get an ADR for than Cinderella's Castle. We did lunch the first time, because neither of my kids would eat typical breakfast foods like eggs and bacon, etc., but the kids menu for lunch/dinner had pizza. The second time, I reserved late morning, thinking we could maybe get to try a little of both the breakfast and the lunch menus, but it didn't work out because they seated us just as they were clearing all the breakfast stuff away, and they asked if we could come back in 10 minutes rather than just sit there without any food until they got switched over to the lunch. And the last time, we did a lunch because A still won't eat breakfast food.

They've always been very accommodating there, too. Last time, I don't remember what E ordered, but they noticed she wasn't eating and she admitted she didn't really like what she ordered and they went and got her mac n' cheese from some other restaurant nearby. And they got fries for A, because he didn't like the pizza. We've had really good luck there with the servers always being really helpful. The 2nd time we went, Aurora was kind of snooty and not very good with the kids....I'm wondering if she was maybe newer and not used to the interactions yet. We asked if they (she and Prince Phillip) still had his horse and if they fed him carrots (in the movie, he falls off the horse and tells him "NO. CARROTS." which the kids thought was hilarious) and she seemed completely thrown....like she had no idea what we were talking about. So I had to give her some hints and then she says "Well that's Prince Phillip's horse, not mine." Like.....sure....but the implication is that you are married....you never go riding together? You don't know your husband's staff, animals, etc? So that was kind of weird, but that's the only awkward character interaction we've ever had, and there are always several princesses there.

And I don't know if they still do this....I think some stuff has changed, but they used to take your picture with Belle as you entered and you got a copy of the picture when you left. But they may not do that anymore, or it might be an upcharge.

Anything you want to know specifically that I can help with?

I would definitely recommend looking at all the menus. I think breakfast is fairly standard...eggs, bacon, maybe some pastries? My kids wouldn't eat any of that, so we didn't do breakfast, but the lunch and dinner menus are traditional Norwegian fare, so if they aren't adventurous eaters, I'd make sure there was something they will like. The pizza is that same puffy personal-sized pizza they serve pretty much everywhere except for the buffets. Some people really love that, and some really don't like it at all. Like I said, they have been very accommodating for us whenever we've been there. They made sure both kids got something they would eat, even if they didn't have it in the kitchen there. But that depends on the server, etc. I personally liked the Norwegian food. There was a ravioli that was pretty good, and I think I maybe ordered the meatballs last time, and they were pretty good, too. I'd have to look it up. But they change the menu periodically, so check to see what their offerings are when you go and whether those appeal to you.

https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/lessons-in-geography.959001/page-4#post-8901742 This has our Akurshus experience in it with pictures of the food. I'll see if I can find the one from the time before that.

https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads...at-least-5-of-them.916767/page-3#post-7372163 This was from our 2nd time there. I know I was ok with the ravioli except for whatever the crunchy tangy thing in it was. I don't remember what I got the first time we went there, but I know I really liked it that time, and I want to say that was a pasta/ravioli thing, too, but different than this one. I just can't remember for sure.

Ok, I don't have any food pictures from the first time we went there. I remember A was only 2, and he didn't like the pizza, and we were staying with friends in kissimmee, so we had parked in the parking lot and we had a bag of doritos in the car, which A LOVED. So DH ended up going back to the car to get the bag of doritos for A. That's what's all over his face. And there are no pictures of him with the princesses, because he was intimidated by them and cried when we tried to get pictures of him with them. He was happy to meet them from our arms or just them coming to the table, but he wasn't cool with them getting close to him.

Thanks for the info @Songbird76 and super cute pics of your kids!
No problem! I do love that restaurant, but we've kind of outgrown it now that the kids are out of the princess stage and there are SOOOOO many restaurants we want to try. But if I ever have grandkids, I totally want to take them there! One of the times we were there, I think the 2nd, there was a family next to us who didn't know it was a character dining restaurant. They had a girl with them who was probably around 9 or 10, and she was SOOOO excited when the first princess came out. They hadn't been expecting it at all. It was so sweet.
