I'd say if someone only watches it once in the theater, and not the DVD or pays attention to the toys, that person is probably not going to remember the name of "that tank guy" anyway. They're not geeks like us, who remember little details, be they from sci-fi movies or theme park rides.
Yea the average person wont know or have any clue. I still like my Bruticus theory but if they decide to bring back devastator I guess I can deal with the mess up with brawl. I wonder if someone told Bay what devastator was? He said he had always preferred Devastator, did he not know he was a combiner and that bone crusher was part of devastator? It makes you wonder when the people in charge say "we are all huge fans of the original series" how much smoke they are blowing.

So far, the only transformers are Ratchet (Ambulance minivan like the original G1), Prowl (Nissan 350Z...but not a police car), Optimus (The original flat-nosed truck with trailer), Jazz is a Porsche, and Bumblebee is the New Beetle.

Megatron is his original G1 version...but in the comic he hasn't transformed into an "alt-mode" yet.

As far as the "Avengers" team goes...it's Captain America, Spider-man, and Wolverine so far. (Actually, some other heroes have been introduced too but I can't remember their names at the moment (one was a guy in maroon and had wings, one was a bald guy (huge) and it said that he had steel for skin...but it didn't look like steel).

See, that's another thing...How can you have Devastator without a Bonecrusher? Will Devastator only have one arm?

Bay's gone on record saying he had no love for the franchise before signing on, thinking it only to be a silly kid's toy. He just simply liked the name more. But people of our generation remember Devastator and the Constructicons, even if we don't remember the individual names, or which vehicle went where; that name conjures up some memories man. Always was a special treat to see the Constructicons, cuz you knew who would show up before the end of the episode. I think Hasbro respects that nostalgia, that's why Aaron Archer (i think it was him anyway) has gone on record saying that they wanted to "do Devastator right".

Yes I did read Bay said that. I was more talking about the some of the others. If you watch the videos on the movies web site they have 2 people aswering questions (I forget who they are) from the fans. They say the people working on the film are huge fans but then they miss this. As for Hasbro, you would think they had some rules set or a consultant of some kind saying "Uh Mr Bay you cant do that, it doesnt make sence."

I had always wished that the Dinobots got "Combiner" technology somewhere along the lines. (Hehe, never happen now...we got Power Rangers instead  )

Just think about it...

Sludge: Leg
Snarl: Leg
Slag: Arm
Grimlock: Arm
Swoop: Body with wings.

It would be a freakin' combiner with wings!
Yea I felt the dinobots would have made a killer combiner. It seemed like they had planned it but just never got a round to it. Wings would be cool but I think coffee jedi has a good point, swoop might be better as an arm. Or better yet now would be the time to add one more dinobot. Hmm lets see.......... my vote would be for a rapture, he could be the recon bot of the group.:D Then swoop and slag could make up the body and booyaa! combiner with wings.

You could have sludge be the body and his long neck be an arm.

It moves around like the I-dog and the eyes light up and you can mix in transformers sound effects into your music. Its at the sharper image I think.

Have you guys been buyin' the movie toys? They are REALLY good. Check out Movie Deluxe Jazz. He's my favorite so far!

Movie Deluxes are only $10 too. Not a bad deal at all!

The Voyager line comes at about $20. Both pretty good deals.

I think they're the best Transformers toys to date. They look great in car mode, and in action figure mode!

The Alternator/Binaltech line is by far the best toys.

Check them out sometime. (Alternator is the US version...Binaltech is the Japanese version)

The Alternators are great for collectors (I have Smokescreen), but not so much for kids, really fiddly transformations and the pieces pop off easily.

Did you guys see the new animated series footage and toys that premiered at SDCC this weekend? PURE LOVE imho.

Get the Binaltech ones...at least they're metal.

I do agree though...it takes like 20 minutes to transform them

Not good for kids in the least...but, the best looking, best transformers to date.

Have you seen the new Mirage...you want to talk about pure love...check this one out.

The G1 of Mirage was the Formula One racecar...the alternator is a navy blue Ford GT40. The NEW design (I think he may be limited)

I did see the trailer for the animated series...and I didn't think I was going to like it...but after watching the video, the only negative thing I have to say about it that the transformers should not have "faces." Bumblebee has a face under that "battle mask" and it just didn't look right. They pulled it off in the movie, but it just didn't look right on the cartoon.

Look what Transformer was cut from the movie!

Her name is Arcee...but look at that Alt mode ;)

I guess that means we will see her in part 2 or 3 then. I am glad they didnt keep her in as I dont think the world was ready for a female transformer. I didnt like her too much in the animated movie but that doesnt look that bad. So Sam will have bumblebee and megan fox, arcee. It would be a bit obvious but I can see them doing it.

She was cut from the movie due to poor fan response. To be honest, I like the alt-mode a LOT...but the robot mode looks like they tried too hard to make her have a female shape.

Yeah, that's very obvious, but you KNOW that's the direction they are headed.
