Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

It is just so sad that there is so little excitement for this "land", albeit there is not too much to be excited about. I hold out hope that John Lasseter has some influence given this will be a showcase for one of Pixar's greatest franchises. The attraction to space ratio is alarming but for me it is the lack of imagination and immersion. If done properly I would be ok to have a land with ZERO attractions it if immersed me into the world.

I think this one will be another "on well" project. I assume the folks who make these decisions have the internet and have seen how poor the reaction has been to other Toy Story lands. Alas. Some of the little kiddies will still enjoy this but it will likely not build those lasting awe inspiring "Disney" moments we all remember as kids.

Member have stated that Lasseter used all of his power to get CarsLand to be built. I wouldn't count on him to use any influence to get a great land built.

@marni1971 do you have any thoughts to share re how you expect the actual theming of DHS's TSL to compare with the WDSP and HKDL versions? For example, there seem to a lot of props strewn around throughout the existing versions, e.g., toy airplane, jacks, Pixar ball, etc. Do you think we will see the same type/level of theming here, or will it be more visually sparse?
From what I've seen, not as many. Maybe that'll change.

You don't hear about Lasseter any more really. He was all over Cars Land, then he was gone. Kind of odd how that happened.
I think Lasseter is only interested in the parks insofar as they concern Pixar, and then only in California.

Pity in a way. His theme park work is not my style, but I would love to have him oversee Toy Story Land, if just for some production value control.

Does anybody know if Lasseter was at all involved with the two abominable other TSLs?

Iger needed to have Lasseter's face out there back when Disney's mojo was in question. I.E. DCA needs fixing and Pixar kept spinning gold whilst Disney Animation couldn't make a hit.

Now DCA is considered fixed, and Disney Animation is on a roll. In both cases, yes, this greatly due to Lasseter, but now that the machines are working so much better, they don't need John out there doing any cheerleading.

If anything, they need him making sure no more Cars 2 or Good Dinosaur misfires come out of Pixar ever again.

Alas we're getting Cars 3 and Toy Story 4 so..... Some stories don't need to be continued.

Except that Cars is Lasseter's baby. His love of cars is what got the franchise kicked off in the first place. I'd expect Cars 4 at some point I'm afraid.

It sells a lot of merchandise. Didn't they announce no more sequels after TS 4, Cars 3 and The incredibles 2? But at some point they will have to fall back on the worn out IP's.
