Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'd agree with you, except that Carsland and TSMM co-exist at DCA just fine.
I didn't mean that they would contrast each other or not work in the same park or anything, I'm just saying that the plot of land where TSL is going has TSMM right there, and they of course wouldn't close it. Theres ways around that, it's just more work.

True. It would be hard to gloss over that contrast.

The plot of land for TSL is just one acre shy of Cars Land. It could've worked with TSMM staying put and some tweaking of the layout here and there.

I think if they had decided to do both SWL and Carsland, that SWL would have gone where originally planned in the front of the park, and Carsland would have gone where SWL is going.
Probably but I was going with the current plan which has the lands opening "faster" because of avoiding having to expand/remove parking at the front. The best choice is still Pixar Place but instead, TSL.

I wish we received something on the level of Cars Land that wasn't Cars Land.
I like the concept of Toy Story Land, I really do, but this is Disney's third (or is it 4th?) time trying to get it right, and they can't even do that. It should have an area like HISTK playground for starters. That's literally one of the easiest things to do. Then add a (decent) Slinky coaster, and another flat ride that doesn't have too much of a height requirement. Move Buzz Lightyear over (retheme it slightly, use the framing narrative of Hamm & Rex playing a video game) to be near TSMM.
The imagineers would have to commit to scale though. No M&Gs in the land itself. Maybe when people exit, there could be one, but Woody, Jessie, and Buzz shouldn't be the same size as guests & Green Army Men if scale is really a large part.

I think SWL will be on that level however both DL and WDW are getting it. What really increases the impact of Cars Land is that it really is something you can only get in Anaheim. DHS needs something special, something you can only experience when there and I really think a fully developed pixar place or a Monstropolis would have been that.

It could have been the Old Hollywood area with ToT and an upgraded GMR, if the latter wasn't on its way out...

Avatar land will be on par with it. From an aesthetic standpoint New Fantasyland is also at Cars Land's level, it just doesn't have the anchor attraction.

@RSoxNo1 isn't there an event coming up in November where a Cameron will be there to talk about AvatarLand? You would think Disney would give more details about TSL at this event to create some excitement about the project.

I think the general public is pretty excited for TSL. They see new rides and are pleased I assume. Only in smaller circles do people seem to discuss details.
