Too crowded!!

I don't get it. I'm currently here and from what I see the parks are dead. Magic Kingdom hub got crowded during castle lighting of course. But I expected that. As for the rest of the park, the waits were short. Peter Pan was the standard hour and 7DMT was the standard 90 minutes but evey other ride in the park was less than 30 minutes. Loved it. Monorail is always crowded in the morning going to and at night leaving from the parks. And as far as the half day concept....I don't know what parks you are in, but we did a full day at Animal Kingdom today and will be going back for another 1/2 day to do more. We also did a full day Hollywood Studios. And those are with limited rides for a 6 year old. There is no half day park unless you are only experiencing 1/2 of what the park really has to offer.
I thought the op was talking about a Christmas party night, but I could be wrong. A sounds like you picked a good night to be in MK. Congrats.

Animal kingdom has a lot to do if you take it all in. It's a beautifully designed theme park with so much detail. I could spend a day there I guess.. DHS though... maybe if you did every attraction and used standby for each one.. I just have nothing to enjoy there anymore.

I guess with the shortened hours, any park would be full day....

The MK is as crowded as it's ever been because the other parks aren't up to the same level as the MK in most people's opinions. They have more to do there, more kid focused than some of the other parks, and they have recently added new rides and attractions whereas the others... well... Captain EO was added.... DHS things are closing

What needs to happen is the other 3 parks need some major TLC with expansions and with more attractions, etc. It appears that is what is happening at AK and is rumored to happen at DHS as well. This "should" help spread out crowds a little better and this will need to be done at EPCOT as well (Frozen attraction and Soarin' movie change isn't enough). If they do that... which I believe they are/will.... hopefully it'll help....or maybe bring in even more crowds in which case....well....hopefully it would be expand more rather than just increase tickets

With the Fantasyland expansion Magic Kingdom is the only park that has really had money spent on it in the last 10 years and it was the most crowded before the new rides.
When Avatar & the rivers of light open in AK that should really help, as the nightime show will also enable AK to open to 9pm, this should mean less people hopping over to MK.
Although Fantasmic means there is a reason to stay in DHS until late at present, it does need a bit more fleshing out on attractions, particularly things that aren't shows.
Epcot just needs Futureworld to be about the future again and World Showcase to be a little more than eating & shopping, it seems pointless to pay admission to go to restaurants.

I was at Epcot and DAK yesterday and experienced low crowds/crowds expected for this week of the month (I choose this week each year to avoid most of the holiday crowds). A friend of mine was at MK and had never seen a crowd like that (she comes in the off season). When talking to her, most rides were at 45 min+, including Pirates at over an hour. I know for the holiday week this is nothing, but on a usually dead week on a Wednesday, that was a little weird...

I enjoy the cool temp's, after 6 months of 90 degrees every day, its nice to not have to sweat walking around the park even at night. And as far as the little kids on shoulders...anything that makes a child's experience better I am all for. These parks are so much more for kids than us, I try to keep that in mind. :) You can only be a kid once, we're gonna be adults the rest of our lives. ;)

...just more proof they need to do more at the other 3 parks

thanks for sharing

That doesn't sound dead. In the old days, at this time, you would find basically everything at the MK to be walk on. I remember days in Frontierland with absolutely nobody on the walkways. That is dead, and those times are now gone.

November 10 through the 20th, 2002. That was dead. My wife and I honeymooned during this time. It was so dead that they phase opened lands in the MK. Nothing had a line. You could walk up to any of the popular eating places and get a table. One day, I rode the launch from WL to FW to Contemporary for about two hours reading a book, one other passenger the whole time. Although it was nice, anyone with any sense would know that any business in those types of situations can not last for long.

Magic Kingdom was geared towards the child inside of us. Not JUST for kids. FYI. Walt never wanted to aim for just children. It was a *family* experience.

Yesterday was the only day this week (or one of the only) where there was no MVMCP scheduled. So with the park open for guests later and normal nighttime entertainment, those without party tickets flocked to the park in droves. Hence why AK was my park of choice yesterday and I didn not hop to the MK but to the Boardwalk instead.

I guess my idea of dead is now a relative term. I just know what I read about on here (and pictures) with regards to holiday crowds. I have no problem waiting 20 minutes for most rides and find that to be a nice relaxing time I'm not walking through a crowd of people with strollers and scooters everywhere.

We were in Disney the past few days and the crowds were not horrible, we got on most rides easily. Waited for Rock-n-Roller coaster for 30 minutes which was our maximum wait. (To be fair to the original post, we have avoided the Frozen based activities) Most rides seem to have a ten-twenty minute wait, and the interactive games have no wait at all. While certainly not as dead as in the past during this time, it has been very enjoyable.
