Tony's Town Square...Is It Really That Bad?

Hi Everyone,

I have reservations at Tony's in late September (we're on the dining plan) and all I keep reading are reviews that highlight the bad points about the restaurant.

Since everything I seem to read is bad, I'm wondering if i should change my reservations to somewhere else?

If someone could give me some insight it would be very helpful! Thanks!!!

I know many here have had bad experiences at Tony's.
My family had lunch there last summer and everything was perfect.
The food was good as well as the service, not 4 star by any means but good none the less. We would try it again, given the opportunity.

My only gripe with Tonys is that it seems they want to get you in and out as quickly as possible. If you go and plan on ordering appetizers, I HIGHLY suggest letting your server know that you would prefer NOT to order your apps and your entree at the same time. I've had a few meals where my entree hit the table while I was still eating my app. The last time I ate there my server was very understanding and had no problem with me ordering my entree once I got my apps. Otherwise I can't really say anything bad about it.

Lunch is much better than dinner. The best part of the meal is free...the sun-dried tomato pesto with bread.

Lunch is better, but I didn't get the sun-dried tomato pesto with bread?! Anyhow, our meal was just O.K. nothing too memorable. I agree with the poster that said to take the monorail to one of the resorts and eat at one of the many great restaurants at the Poly, or even the Grand Floridian.

The food is not great, I think that is why people are disappointed. The food is just ok, you will get much better at Tutto Italia or Imulinos.

Neither me nor my wife had any complaints about Tony's. My steak was delicious. Perhaps that's part of the problem, though...I didn't order anything "Italian". Much of the complaints I read here about Tony's are about the Italian food not being as good as at some of the other Italian places at WDW. Since I didn't attempt to order an Italian entree, I wouldn't know. I just know my steak was great, and I enjoyed the Calimari appetizer and my teremesu (sp?) dessert. My wife enjoyed hers as well, and it's on my list of restaraunts that I would like to revisit on a future trip.

That's why we wanted to try Tony's because my BF is Italian and I'm Greek so we figured hey, why not.

The only problem is we want to stay within Magic Kingdom and this was our first choice....

If it's not too bad maybe we'll keep our reservations? I'm not sure...I don't want to go and be completed dissapointed :( And the only stuff I'd order is the pasta....

I heard poor reciews but ate theeir last March. The food was good and we liked our waitress. I had simple spaghetti and meatballs, and it wasn't cooked in a strong Italian manner. That's what I like. :lookaroun Most people do not, ahhaha.

You have to remember that most people share the bad things that happen to more people and more often than they share the good things. If you had two meals at Disney, one was good...no complaints and one was terrible...awful food, poor service, long wait etc etc you would probably remember that meal more than the good one and bring it up more often...mainly because that was the exception, it stood out more because it was bad.

Now that you've actually asked, you've seen some good reviews. I actually have eaten there 4 or 5 times and have always enjoyed it. As one poster said , once I got my entree right after my appetizer so after that I always said that I wanted the appetizers first and that I'd like to wait a bit for the entree and the server had no problems with that at all.

I have always had good food and service there and will definately eat there again

We ate there Feb 07 and decided we didn't care for it. The service was good and I love the atmosphere but the food was just bad. It was one of two restaurants we will not go back to, Hollywood & Vine is the other.

We went there this past week and everything was great. The spaghetti and meatballs were good. I had the shrimp scampi which was good as well. Service was on point as well.

We've eaten there twice, and we would return. I had a red pizza with chicken and spinach that was memorable, and my husband said his chicken parm was good. Steaks were also fine. The other time I had a pasta with white sauce and veggies and it was OK, a bit on the bland side, but nothing a sprinkle of parm. cheese couldn't cure! :)
