The ride vehicles are in horrible condition as is the track. Please note the loosely placed seat covers next time you are on the ride. The ride is in need of a new track and new cars.
And please add on-board audio while there at it. Disney later decided to add sound effects and music in the attraction but most of the effects won't work or at the audio is either quiet or easy to miss due to the speed of your ride vehicle.

When I was down there were some ride vehicle on the alpha side that looked like they had been totally rehabbed. No dirt, tears, grime. The Omega side was revolting.

Somehow I've ridden on the Omega side primarily for the past 2-3 years and its definitely seen its better days. I still love the ride and it will always be a favorite of mine, its just been so disappointing to see the state that they have let it get to. Ripped seats, gum, soda stains, stickiness, you name it I've seen it. The loosely placed seat covers really set me over the top last time.

I'm aware of the issues with the overall condition. That wasn't what I was referring to however.

I will agree with you on the ride vehicles. I like the style of them better then DL for sure. If the track was completely revamped and they bring back the drop at the end (which they never should have installed breaks in front of) it will immediately become the best Space Mountain in any of the Disney Parks again.

The preshow was much better.

The pre-show? The WHOLE THING was worlds better.

The pre-show set the perfect mood... How it started sort of sly but as it progressed it became more and more obvious something evil was happening... Even the music built toward that. It was a PERFECT attraction for a pre-show and circular theatre set-up that already existed.

Before it closed, my oldest daughter wanted to go on it, but we thought she was still too young. We took her to the exit doors through the gift shop, and let her listen. She heard all the screams and decided she didn't want to do it. To this day (she's 20 now), she remembers standing outside the doors hearing that, and also regrets to this day not viewing it.

And I'm with those here who want a new track, at the very least, in Space Mountain. The current version is a chiropractor's dream. :p I rode it a couple of years ago and vowed never to ride it again. My neck hurt for like an hour afterward
That part on SM when you go around that fairly sharp corner and then stop at the bottom of the lift hill-the first time I rode SM a couple of years ago, I wasn't expecting it, and it snapped my neck so bad, I thought I had a mild case of whiplash. The rest of it was almost as rough-it felt like one of those old wooden coasters that beat the crap out of you while you ride them. I will still ride it once per visit, but only because my DW and DD love it. If they put a new, smoother track in there, it will probably be one of my favorites.

You know what's funny?
Speaking of Tomorrowland love, Sonny Eclipse in Cosmic Rays needs some right now. While I was eating lunch I guess a hydronic fluid tube popped inside him because a clear liquid starting leaking out of his arm and he just stopping moving and slouched down. Audio was still going.

Ewww. Lol. When was this?

The Disneyland version is superior

People need to remember both space mountains are totally different you cant really compare them like that....its not conparing mirror rides (like POTC) or (splash) DL has a single track and wider cars. And MK is obviously two tracks with narrow cars.

My two cents.....tear down and rebuild as it was with modern minor touches. (Move to wide trains as is the modern standard) with on board audio ofcourse. And leave track layouts mostly unchanged EXCEPT add more banking on some of the faster turns and maybe a few other minor "smoothing" elements.

Well you can compare the layouts. DL has no variety (almost all of the turns are in the same direction) and no real drops. Bah.

If MK's had received the DL treatment, I think we'd have the best SM in the world.

Does this Sonny Eclipse cardboard cutout count as Tomorrowland love? Its kind of cool to see "something" new related to Sonny

I rarely defend bad show, but failures do happen. There is no way to predict that type of failure. Animatronics, no matter their locomotive means, are subject to wear and tear. Just like for your favorite sports hero, an MCL can give way at any point despite a normally healthy body. Fortunately, most of these failures are easily repairable provided there is not structural damage.

Can't like this enough. And it's why the current state of MK's Space Mountain is so frustrating. Completely agree it would be the best version by far were it given a proper refurb with new track (but not new track layout!) and new ride vehicles.

Fast pass at 10 is your friend. Buzz and SM need complete overhauls though. Like moreso than Dinosaur to be honest.

Dinosaur had some show quality issues that may be addressed. The building had some major infrastructure issues that kept leaking and at times flooding the show area floors and the ride would have to be closed, cleaned up and repeat. It had been going on a while. We all saw what happened to Splash Mountain when the infrastructure problems were ignored as well as the issues of Maelstrom when those infrastructure issues were not addressed either.

Incidentally the third lift on Splash seems to have a leaking ceiling again....
