I hate to sound negative, really I DO, I mean it. But to me this is a publicity stunt. Its to try and boost the stock. Staggs and Mayer have been gone for almost 10 years. I am sure they dont even recognize what a mess it is compared to when they left. I dont have much faith left the TWDC Board has clue one how to fix anything. Bringing back the "BOB" that created the mess shows that in spades. House cleaning is the only way to save TWDC. Play to your Strengths Disney

of course its a stunt for Wall Street and the earnings call. They were approached before and said no thanks, I just wonder how much of the companies soul did they have to bargin with in order for them to agree.

Disney doesn't "house clean". The mediocre white male gets promoted because he was in the right place at the right time ( ie Josh)

Many here predicted Disney/Igers downfall with the Fox deal. I am old enough to remember them same prediction with Eisner's purchase of Fox family for some ungodly amount. We see how that all ended for Eisner.

I agree The WDC needs new leadership for new times just like the mid eighties. What would Bob do’ isnt the remedy that finding the new Eisner and Wells would be

They need to get back to what they do best and that’s to tell stories. Getting rid of people that have a passion for storytelling ,like Joe Rhode,etc,was a huge mistake. The content that Disney has piut out in movies and in their parks has been thin on story and wreaks of going back to the well too many times too frequently. (Live action movies, bad fireworks shows, unoriginal ride stories etc)

So in an attempt to get the thread back on track.

If this duo becomes CEO what changes if any do you think they would make to current strategy?

No
Dana and Josh are having their toes seriously stepped on here.

It could definitely be portrayed as a bit of an insult to both. Particularly Dana.

If I was one of them and I liked my job I'd come out fighting now. It's now or never. Make your mark. Josh has been so wishy washy and silent since Iger came back. Tick tock...

To get rid of Josh would be to admit there is an issue in Parks and Resorts. Iger has come out swinging against that so I don’t think Josh is getting the boot anytime soon because:

A. He’s a yes man and;
B. A yes man is no threat to Iger and;
C. To do so would admit there is a problem in DPEP which they can’t publicly afford to do considering the other segments (studios, DTC, streaming, and linear TV) are all sagging like a wet diaper on a newborn.

You never know these days in TWDC who suddenly might need to 'spend more time with family'.

Anyway, whatever you do don't tell Josh that his job isn't under threat. He might wake up and do something if he half suspects it is. Win/win all round.

Mayer only left in 2020.
