Dana and Josh are having their toes seriously stepped on here.

It could definitely be portrayed as a bit of an insult to both. Particularly Dana.

If I was one of them and I liked my job I'd come out fighting now. It's now or never. Make your mark. Josh has been so wishy washy and silent since Iger came back. Tick tock...

The theme parks are very profitable, for the time being. Movie production is not doing so well - in fact, their movies are performing particularly awful this year save for GoTG and TLM is alright. They've lost a lot of good will in the two biggest franchises under their belt, completely tanking the one from a galaxy far, far away. Achieving profitability in streaming has turned out to be a lot more difficult than originally imagined, particularly in an era where money is no longer free.

Add another to the list it looks like; Haunted Mansion is probably going to bomb.

what were they thinking between the inflated budget and the terrible release timing??

Yeah, this is a really terrible way to show a lack of confidence in those two

I would be fine with Staggs coming back. A lot happened in the parks, both domestic and internationally, when he was overseeing Parks. I thought that he was the heir apparent at one point but that all fell through (obviously). Iger’s succession planning has been terrible.

While most of the movies have not done as well as hoped at the Box Office, I am optimistic about this one. The word of mouth is positive. Will be interested in the second weekend numbers. Could be this is one of those that has "legs" and will do solidly in the weeks to come.

The unfortunate truth is that they released it now because they wanted it to be ready to go on Disney+ in October.
So I would hope that the fact that it's underperforming, at least at the moment, was factored into its overall release strategy. I wonder if Disney wondered if analysts would be kind to the fact that HM would not do too well at the box office given that they hoped Indy and Elemental would do gangbusters?

Under Staggs and Mayer I think Dana would leave and Josh would keep quiet and try and stay in his job.

Eisner was a parks guy but when he ran the company with Frank, was there a chairman of parks and resorts back then?

Maybe not publicly.

But, Staggs was parks for a while. And popular whilst in that post. That's got to hurt the current incumbents ego if nothing else.
But not a true parks guy. Staggs natural position is finance, which is why he was CFO as long as he was. He went to parks because of the "more experience" swap, and did serviceably enough. Like A-rod playing 3rd base, because the Yankees weren't going to make Jeter move. That's why the current co-CEO thing at Candle can work, he knows his role is to be supportive of the creative, and run the finances to make that happen. Same as I would expect from him if he came back to Disney. So if Josh is like, "I'm a true parks guy, I was just following orders, let me demonstrate I can fix it," he could be okay. He's also the youngest of the bunch (10 years to Tom and Kevin, 7 years to Dana), so he could theoretically set himself up to be "the guy who follows the next guy."

But, unless Tom and Kevin start mentoring Dana as part of this advice arrangement, she should probably start looking for a lifeboat.

It will be interesting to see how the Dominoes fall.

I’m not sold on the idea of a skinny jeans exit unless Iger needs another scapegoat.

He may just choose to stay in his position.

If Josh were smart - and was paying attention to what happened to his old boss - he'd be very happy as the "CEO of DPEP".

Is Iger in any trouble at this point? It seems like his reputation is finally eroding with the locals (general public).
Bob I has a constituency of 11, almost of whom he selected. He’s safe, as they’ve demonstrated the only thing they can do is call Bob to save them.

That will never happen but if it did I would love to see those meetings.
Disagree. I think it could even be likely the only reason they were brought back. They were asked to even step in before Bob came back. I would like to see dual CEO’s.

When I commented I didn’t understand what the poster was saying.

I thought he meant they would be co-CEO with Iger like some unholy trinity.

It is possible we see a dynamic duo.
