Tom Staggs drops some REAL information about the future

Although I do love the extensive jumping to conclusions you did. lol.
I apologized in advance if I had read your post wrong...

I didn't jump to conclusions per se, I just noticed that you've said something similar about being hired by WDI before, so I wasn't sure if you thought posting on forums was your ticket to getting your foot in the door or if you were just joking fully aware of how stupid that sounds. Thank you for clarifying.

"Said No One ever...". I think they would've been smart to keep it one attraction for brand recognition and to add capacity to a park that needs it, but spending $500 million on an entire land- that is what I find ridiculous.
Based on recent discussions it's down to just 2 rides anyway so not much different than keeping it to 1 attraction. The area will probably have stores, food places and even bathrooms all themed to Avatar too. IMHO it is better to have this as a land than a single Avatar attraction that has no connection to the rest of the park. I guess they could have dumped it in DHS since that place is pretty dysfunctional already. I agree $500M seems like a lot to spend.

If it's built, and they do spend $500 million (or even the $750 million at some point for the deluxe version), people will go, find it neat and enjoy themselves. The 99.999% of the visitors to WDW who do not frequent Disney message boards will simply go to DAK, check out the cool theming, attractions, shops or whatever and probably think it's neat. Then, they'll move on.

Why do I think that? Because that's what I do with WWoHP. I very much disliked the one movie I saw, have no interest in seeing the others, but am very appreciative of the theming (except for seeing Duelling Dragons right there), enjoy the scenery, FJ and butterbeer. It's a good time; well done! Then, I leave and never give it another thought. Avatar has so much visual potential, I think it will do well with most everyone except those staunchly opposed to it. Who knows, perhaps even some of them will like the finished product. Ya know, most people just don't take this whole theme park s**t as seriously as some of us on here. :-)

I think they are smart to start a little smaller than originally planned. If Avatarland is a huge success I am sure they will leave some space for a phase 2. Even Potter started smaller and is now being expanded.

It's all a matter of attitude and perspective. Super simple example after reading lots of posts on FLE...

Is 'Enchanted Tales with Belle' an 'A' ticket meet and greet, but supercharged in an awesome 'D' ticket building? That's sweet; the next level of meet and great with wonderful theming, great audio animatronics and a super cool mirror effect! Or, is 'Enchanted Tales with Belle' a 'D' ticket building with a stupid meet 'n greet inside? I think it's the former and is a great addition to Fantasyland, while others on here think it's the latter.

You know what's funny dream? The people complaining the loudest about Avatar will be the first ones to run to see the new land IF it ever opens... And if they aren't there opening day, they will make sure to go see it during their next trip after it opens, ESPECIALLY if the reviews rave about it...

Of course, they will still need to play their WDWMagic created character and rant and rave how stupid Avatar is, how they will never step foot into the land, and how they know for a fact that no one in the world cares about the movie or the franchise anymore...

That is so well said! Perfect! I really believe that a few people on here don't even believe what they say.

I remember last year getting upset with you once, and sending a PM to apologize :), but the more I've read your posts the past several months the more we're starting to think the same on several issues. One of us should be frightened by that lol. ;)

You're making some remarkable assumptions. I assure you that I meant what I said. Avatar as a film failed to impress me much. I haven't visited Animal Kingdom the last 2 times I visited WDW. I sure wouldn't waste time and shoe leather walking through it to see Pandora, which is one of the most contrived and derivative fantasy worlds ever created on film. Only 2 things would motivate me to visit AK again: if the Yeti were brought back in full "A" mode (since I never saw it in that condition - hell, I have yet to see it in person in ANY condition), or if Beastly Kingdomme were built. Otherwise, forget it. I'd rather hang out at DHS or World Showcase.

Nothing to be frightened about... You are coming to the dark side... We have plenty of room over here LOL... I try to see based in reality, not in some fantasy where everything is perfect... I always give kudos when deserved... We agree more than you think... I just don't always post and respond to everything...

You know what is so great about being behind a computer posting things on a fan based forum? No one will ever know what you really did.. So you can keep up your facade that you hate Avatar and never step foot inside the land, but no one here would ever know the truth... So, just make sure in 2017/2018 you enjoy the land but make sure to keep in character here in the site...

Not all of us Avatar haters will be doing that ;) but you and I have had that discussion before and reached some common ground so I won't repeat all that again. If Cars/Pixar Land or some kind of Star Wars Land happen I'll be there but I'm not holding my breath on either of those happening for a long, long time. I've been going to WDW for a long time and made do without Avatarland up to now so giving it a miss won't affect me or my holiday but I hope that (if it does happen) it will be part of a wider project across WDW that will include other significant additions and expansions.

what i find amazing as that you avatar haters constantly come back to discuss it..i mean i would think if you hated so bad you would never get on a topic that discusses it

What do you disagree with me about? Well I'll take Staggs at his word regarding Cars Land (I haven't been on here too often over the past couple of days but I noticed someone mention a Pixar mini-land with Cars, MI and possibly Ratatouille attractions which I would also love to see) and a bigger Star Wars presence but I'll do so more in hope than expectation.

I doubt he was thinking of you when he made those assumptions. You, and some other Disney fans might be disgruntled by the Yeti or lack of Beastly Kingdomme, but somehow the park has managed to get up to nearly 10 million annual visitors, despite your not going the past 2 times. If an Avatarland opens for $500 million or so, with a solid e-ticket, another attraction, some shops, etc., I'll bet you DAK will increase by another million or so annually (well, perhaps by 999,999 if you still don't visit, but you get the gist of what I'm saying). :)

i love the idea of avatar you hate it..other than that i agree with a lot of what you re saying

Oh okay, fair enough. Like I've said before, while I have no interest in Avatarland I hope it lives up to the expectations of anyone who is excited about it (maybe it will exceed those expectations) and that if it is next on the WDW agenda it spurs some wider improvements at the resort. That way we all win in the long run.

What disturbs me about Avatar land is what are the CM's going to wear???/ I'm not ready for 5' 2' 260 lb blue people running around.

I think this is far from the greatest concern, but the simple solution would be to dress them as human researchers, a la Sigorney Weaver's character. That way, they are acting as hosts for other humans visiting and exploring Pandora.
