"A Screamscape sources tell us that Disney has asked the Imagineers to start studying up the huge collection of Marvel Comics characters and stories. Don’t get your hopes up just yet for any new attractions stateside however, as they tell us that the first Disney park that could get new Marvel based attractions will likely be the new Shanghai park."

...it starts :lookaroun

They are looking at putting it in a MK style park. That should get everyone going around here.

Honestly...we don't know what Shanghai will look like. It may not be a DL style.

EDIT: AND!!! Even if it is, who cares. It fits in places(Tomorrowland). I'm cool with it.

I was thinking the same exact thing. Somebody run to Costco and grab a supersize box of popcorn

I will be following this story very closely, its implications could be quite large

Yep.

I doubt it, but it IS possible for a park over there. While I'm THRILLED it's not here, I am pretty disappointing that they would even think of putting it in a MK Style Park.

*sigh*

:rolleyes::o

Come on, Disney not opening a MK style park first in a new resort location? I'll believe that when I see it.

Agreed. Very curious (as well as anxious) as to what they do with this.

I know SirGoofy and a bunch of others here are all for Marvel in the parks (as long as its in the right places), but I just don't think I could buy into it

I'll just say that the story didn't suprise me at all. Marvel in the halls of Imagineering? No, not suprised at all. Actually the only thing I find a bit suprising is that it took weeks instead of days.

This isn't news, not that it ever stops anyone in these parts.

You can be sure WDI has been working on concepts since the deal happened.

And many folks, myself included, have speculated that Shanghai will be the first wide-scale use of them. Jim Hill did as well (after I did).

I have no inside info on it, it's just common sense.

China is the largest untapped market in the world for Disney. And it makes little difference whther it's Mickey, Goofy, Pooh, Aladdin, Nemo, Woody or any of the Marvel characters. Disney wants to exploit them ... all of them.

The park has always been planned as a MK-style park, but one that would be very different than the ones already around. I have a strong 'guess' (that's all it is, but it is an educated one) that Disney may well be doing some last-minute changed to facilitate getting Marvel in somehow.

I have no opinion as to whether this is good or bad or in between until there are actual plans.

But again, not news.

Oh, and funny how no one here has mentioned that Steven Speilberg has re-upped his contract with Universal for theme park consulting through 2017.

So, much like Spidey not leaving IOA for WDW, neither is one of the greatest film makers of all time (not that he does much for UNI Creative anyways).

That IS news.

And it was released earlier this week ... made yesterday's Hollywood Reporter, have no idea if was elsewhere (but one would surmise it's out there).

That'll never happen.

Tomorrowland? Nope.

DHS? Yes. We've done this run through before...:snore:
