My main criticism of the ride? The bayou scene is ridiculously empty. Seriously there is no reason they couldn’t reuse any of the existing props in this scene. Oh and the dr. Faciler thing. But honestly it doesn’t bother me that much on the actual ride. I just think it would be cool.

I do like the ride and also think at least some figurines in some of the areas would help fill the space, but I feel like this is more of a problem for Disney World than Disneyland. The lack of Dr. Facilier honestly doesn’t bother me as they said from the jump that this was post-movie, so I didn’t expect a Shrek 4D situation of “He’s back!” and then “Oh. He’s dead again.”

Imagine if the existing critter houses had been kept and made to be part of a bayou town where the animal musicians in the ride lived. I think that would be the best way to do it. As for facilier I agree that it could end up being very sloppy real “somehow palpatine returned” stuff. But I think there’s a way to make it work.

Not to get into the thick of this, but I've never truly understood the comparison of Splash on its last legs with Tiana on its debut. As we make these arguments, I think the better would have been Splash with a renovation/update at the scale of Tiana's budget vs. Tiana. I realize Disney isn't in the business of doing this, but it's a much fairer comparison. I find it harder to argue that (leaving aside the "other" conversations involved, as we all should) Splash with that much enhancement wouldn't be the clear winner. But, maybe that's me.

Exactly. The Disney way. Let an attraction rot so the last memories are bad and replace it with someone else and have people compare those 2. A fraction of the cost would have made Splash way better. Im sure there was a reason why Tiana never received her own princess themed ride and only a M&G but hey if you really needed to they should have simply stuff with that Princess themed FantasyLand setting.
