I had a lightning lane for Splash yesterday for 2:45 pm right when the ride broke down. I had just sat in the log when they shut the ride down. It ended up being down for about 6 hours. Was hoping to ride during the day but did go back at night when it reopened. The water levels in the flume looked so high I was more concerned about getting wet then the show last night. Any tiny little dip had water coming into the log. There was a puddle inside the log that just pooled right under shoes in Row 6 so that was cool. Then right before you go under that little bridge before unload I tried to dodge a pretty bad leak that was coming from the ceiling to no success.

Im not sure what it is but I enjoy Splash so much more during the day. Regardless, Splash just doesn't bring me quite the same joy that it used to. It just feels more stale to me in general. Perhaps its the fact that I know its on borrowed time or maybe its just because I rode it on a cold evening and got drenched.

I like the ride, but I don't go on it unless it's early in a warm day. It's not worth it to walk around on a cold day with soggy pants and shoes.

I just find the show to be better and the attraction more pleasant during the day. But yeah soggy shoes suck at any time of day. I’m usually pretty lucky on Splash though. I rarely ever get moderately wet let alone soaked

Blasphemy!

But in all serious I'd say the whole park doesn't bring quite the same joy that it used to.

Hahah I know I know. I think a big of part of my feeling came from riding it at night and just how wet I was getting. But could you imagine if they gave Splash any sort of tech upgrades like they did with Snow White and Alice instead of just letting it deteriorate? The nice tasteful effects, not the Snow White magic mirror or white rabbit running videos. Now instead they are going to do these things on PatF and call it a huge triumph.

We can dream, right? Some projection mapping tastefully implemented to add some depth/life to a few of the scenes would be incredible.

But also, they basically broke the flume. You should not be getting drenched on the Laughin' Place dip drop... one time I was backstage on the cast shuttle and a Splash Mountain lead was on it... I struck up a conversation and asked about why we get drenched now. She said the contractor they hired to rebuild that section of the flume a few years ago messed it up or something.

Obviously, hourly employees are not the most reliable source of insider info but it lines up with what I've observed... you used to be able to sit in the front and not have a tidal wave come over the front of the log on the dip drop.

I usually ride Splash first thing in the morning (right after Mansion- which is best at rope drop since the stretching room is empty), and when it's me and a friend or two on the log I don't usually get more than a small splash.

Then at night it's the same- but obviously if the log is full all bets are off.

It also hurts now when you hit that drop, as if there is a misaligned micro-dip there. I thought it was just my imagination, but I guess not!

That’s too bad. Do you remember those ugly metal plates they had running down the drop flume after that refurb? They eventually ended up fixing it but it was unsightly for a while.

Oh when I said dips I wasn’t even taking about one of the three actual drops. I’m talking about those instances where the flume dips a foot or so (if that). Water was coming in even on those.

Speaking of that drop, I hope that PatF keeps the essence of my favorite scenes.

For instance, I hope we re still plunging into darkness before the second drop.

I hope the Laughing Place is still blacklit.

I hope the How Do you Do scene is still set in country/ bayou. I don’t want to see anything that resembles a city inside the mountain.

I hope they don’t mess with the outdoor section at the beginning of the ride too much.

I hope there is still a nice emotional arc with some sort of dark/ ominous/ scary moment preceding the final drop /finale. I’d imagine they re not going to give this the Little Mermaid/ Tokyo BatB treatment based on the ride system and nature of the ride but who knows.

When I break it all down these storytelling elements are more important to me than the characters. It’s the music that’s going to be impossible to replace.

I'm still expecting them to remove all the animatronics and just have it be a dark room with lights representing fireflies.

As I've said before, having the logs float through a flooded New Orleans would probably be a bad idea. It'd be too reminiscent of the floods hurricanes have brought with them when they showed up in the actual New Orleans.

I imagine they probably won't. Maybe they'll replace Brer Bear's name on the mailbox outside his house with Louis' so people will assume it's him snoring.

Didn't Jim Hill say that the voodoo spirits would show up to replace the Burrow's Lament sequence? Don't know if Dr. Facilier (outside of his shadow replacing Brer Fox's) will make it in, though. I could still see them going "to heck with continuity" and having him just be alive without explanation.

I feel like it's just trolling at this point. Twitter must be calling the shots 😂
Honestly, if they hadn't JUST released BRAND NEW ART THIS WEEK, that they sold for like 250 bucks, and people had ordered the other drawings not even yesterday, it would not be as....weird?! Why were they even still there? I am just glad I bought mine in September. Hopefully the people that had pre-ordered theirs this week got theirs.

Are the nice wood brer character portraits gone?
I don't know. I only saw that the drawings were gone. When I talked to the folks in the gallery, they said the carvings would stay until they had all been purchased. I just found my receipt for the one I bought in September. I got a little emotional.

I’m here. Just checked. They re gone 😞

I was considering buying one too. I asked a CM and they said they were “sold out. Asked if their were any in the back and she said no. Thought if they just “got rid” of them there was a small chance they d sell one if they re still back there and someone asked.
