Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

My point was that he kept going on and on about how the retheme would make children of color feel good, and a good chunk of them won't be able to make the height requirement and actually go on the ride that'll make them feel good. If Disney's intention really is to make children of color feel good, I don't think they really thought it through.

Children grow up pretty fast, and they can always look forward to getting to ride in the future.

I am actually done trying to help you open your mind to other points of view. Both you and CaptainEO win!

You can keep going on and on with your what-ifs and pretend that a self-constructed reality in your head is actually happening. Have a great life.
I gave you actual examples of events that have taken place with evidence backing them up.

There's no fantasy in my head about Disney's CEO getting cozy with the terrible human rights dictatorship CCP to make themselves more money. It is reality.

These are real events I presented with evidence. There's no "self constructed reality".

One of the main things about the overlay that bothers me is that there's supposedly no antagonist up until the Burrow Lament scene. Sure Louie loses a trumpet but nothing to truly carry the plot along. Think about if modern Splash had cut Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear until the big hill, it'd make no sense.

I'm not so certain it needs to have a "story" in the traditional sense. There's not really an antagonist on Mr. Toad is there? It can be an immersive adventure through a world, without needing to have so much drama (ironically).

Mr. Toad is a chaotic romp that lasts barely a minute and a half and has a narrative-- a beginning, middle, and an end, resulting in Toad being hit by a train and ending up in Hell.

Splash is an attraction where 100% of the action and what happens therein is intrinsically related to narrative. Whether anyone thinks it should stay or go or how they feel about it, Splash is apex Disney storytelling and Imagineering. Everything in the attraction serves a purpose. Not only are Toad and Splash not even comparable on a narrative aspect, Splash is over 10 minutes long. It should have a narrative when it changes. Disney has to step up to rise to the occasion. A change that is being heralded as this important has to match. They messed up at every turn of this, this refresh has to be amazing.

Good morning! #FlashBackFriday!

I love these old videos. It's honestly impressive that this footage exists on many fronts! hahaha! I do not miss the old seating on the logs, but I certainly miss the entire attraction working! :) I always forget about the old Brer Rabbit designs. Since this is 1992, I was still probably too short to ride it at this point. I was there when it opened in 89, but I was such a small kid, I would have been around 6 (?) when I finally got to ride it.

Did they remove a goose or two in the first scene? Seems like there's less nowadays.

So now that Toontown has gone down for it's overhaul, do y'all think they'll announce anything about Splash when it reopens and MMRR can draw crowds away from that area?

That would be my prediction if they’re committed to this project. Particularly if ToonTown opens next January (2023) in time for its 30th anniversary.

And with the Avengers E-Ticket confirmed to be on hold, I could see Splash going down around then for roughly 15-18 months reopening Summer 2024 as the next “new” attraction.

But again this is assuming an aggressive timeline.
