Tiana’s Bayou Adventure SPOILER Thread

The song isn't as good as Zip which, problematic origins aside, is one of the greatest movie songs of all time. That said, Special Spice is pretty catchy and uplifting.

What I like about "Special Spice" is that it has a very old-school Disney vibe about it. It feels much more like something the Sherman Brothers would have written than the Broadway-like tunes of Alan Menken, the Lopezes or Lin Manuel Miranda. Anyone else get 50s-70s era Disney vibes from the song?

Exactly how I feel about secret spice and zip.

1927 is apparently when the ride takes place.

Mods, can we please put a clamp on the Splash comments? They're irrelevant for this thread, and they're already hijacking it. Thanks!

Tiana's Bayou Adventure will always be remembered for replacing Splash Mountain. There's no escaping it. You don't have to read the comments, though.

The AAs in this unwanted replacement are obviously good. I used to urge "Disney" on these boards to upgrade some of the figures in Splash, and wouldn't it have been great if the replacements were as lively as the alligator? Still, many of the figures that were there were pretty good, old as they were. It is some comfort that, since Tokyo Disneyland is refusing to replace their Splash, the legacy of Brer Rabbit and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" will never be entirely forgotten. Plus, Tokyo's is the best version anyway. I'm planning a trip out there, so I'll be able to ride it over and over again, just like I'll ignore Tiana's Mulch Pile if I ever go to WDW again, which right now is not likely. Not when Epic Universe is right there down the road...

Was this a spoiler about your life plans? 🤔

Oh, I agree. I mean, the comparison comments are fine, they're a natural, organic part of their threads.

I am talking about the obnoxious grandstanding and bickering, which has already started snowballing.

I’m really liking the new finale song. I know it’s not Zip, but it is good in its own right. A lot of naysaying about not using the PatF soundtrack (which they still did) before the ride was shown off, myself included, and yet I think the new song is much better than all of the film songs.

The finale itself seems a little cluttered, but my fear of lacking kinetics is gone. Even with that being said, it’s pretty obvious that the critter figures aren’t true animatronics and are more similar to what we see in Little Mermaid. From a distance, it’s not an issue, but when the log passes in front of the stage, it seems very noticeable.

I really, REALLY wish they had worked it in, somewhere, somehow, even at the very end. Even if not the full-on version, just playing the instrumental after the final scene as you head to disembark. Just as a nod to the history and impact the original ride had. It's easily one of the top 3 Disney songs of all time, and to just have it totally erased - there and everywhere else - just really seems a horrid shame to me.

I'm in favor of the new Princess and the Frog theme but it's completely absurd to act like comparing Tiana's Bayou Adventure to Splash is "irrelevant" as it's the ride that replaced Splash and uses the EXACT SAME RIDE SYSTEM. It's natural to compare the new scenes to what used to exist.

I understand that some of the diehard Splash fans are toxic, but I don't think that should prohibit a rational discussion for the majority of users on this forum.

They have a whole CD of bonus music that was released when the movie came out they could have pulled from.

I clarified that I was specifically referring to the grandstanding and showboating and bickering, not rational discussion.

I'd mentioned in the other thread that the refrain of "Because your special spice makes us complete" sounds melodically like "And always let your conscience be your guide".

Some real actual spoilers from our very own @Drew the Disney Dude they are light though.

Sadly, having combed over the new footage attempting to splice comparisons together with old 360 footage of Splash, I'm 90% sure that's footage from the PJ Morton ride just cropped.

We do have a 90-minute loop of queue music they might slip it into. For instance, as the call notes for the fictional radio station would be a nice Easter Egg.

Honestly... I've kinda been wondering if it's possible that they give the song an additional meaning by singing it as we dig into the hidden crannies to find the frogs.

To be fair, I think their home is outside of New Orleans in a more rural setting.

Wait... it plays at the start as we're heading off deeper into the bayou. Huh... Just realized that.

True, but they went for (and looks to have pulled off nicely) a French Quarter asthetic vs rural LA.

That’s my problem as well with the Splash fanboys.

I understand nothing can replace the original attraction but to completely ignore the reasons they are even doing this re-theme in the first place bothers me.

Yes I wish Tiana could have gotten her own ride but so far I like what I’m seeing with this project.

I've said it before and I will say it again, both the fervently pro (and I am not talking about the people who are sad or just don't want to ever ride TBA) and anti splash people are the exact same person to me. Two sides, Same coin. Both equally toxic spoiled brats who need to take several thousand seats. The ride changed because the Disney Princess franchise is the 6th most lucrative in the world. That's it. It's about money. Internal memos leaked confirmed it was about money. The arguments are all pointless.
