Things you hate Disney for doing

Basically, how Epcot has been turned from the Disney-only kind of park into (maybe slowly) a thrill park.

First World of Motion turned into TT (very good indeed, but without the cultural experience.)
Then, Living Seas without the slow moving cars.
Then, Ellen DeGeneres in "Energy" What da hell is she doin there?
Then, Imagination... No words about that change.
I haven't seen Mission:Space, an it sounds like fun, but "Horizons" will have a very special place in my memories.
AND NOW, the rumor that "Spaceship Earth" is becoming a coaster... That would be stupid and unforgivable!

In MGM, I think that "Monster Sound" was weeeeey better that the Carey show. A lot more rides shold be added into this theme park...

In MK, well... Mr Toad was incredible. Pooh should have replaced Snow White.
20,000 Leagues could be adapted to the "Atlantis" movie, but not taken away... At the end, the story is the same, the search for Atlantis.

Out from the theme parks, all Disney sequels are awful. Except Toy Story 2, all others are really bad. Recentrly I watched "The Stitch Movie"... Awful indeed.

Finishing, I would say changes in the parks are needed, we are just to old to understand such changes. We grew with this rides in our mind and now they're gone...

One thing I don't understand is when a film is banned, people get upset & say things like "we should have the right to see the movie". Yet, the same isn't applied to rides. Why is that? Why does the movie fan have the right to see his/her favorite movie while the ride fan has to put up with his/her favorite ride getting destroyed just to please the "average person"?
You do have that right. Just because a movie is banned doesn't mean that people don't end up seeing it somehow. However, being banned and destroyed are two different things. You destroy the film and no one will see it again, assuming no copies. Same with the ride. I've never heard of a ride being banned, so this is almost like comparing apples and oranges.

What I'm trying to say is, if a movie fan has the right to see his/her favorite movie shouldn't the ride fan have the same right?

Once a movie is done and in the can, there are no ongoing fixed costs to keep it in existence. You don't have to hire staff to keep the movie open to the public, you don't have to spend money to freshen the paint or fix mechanical breakdowns. A major theme park attraction costs serious money just to keep the doors open. It is really more comparable to a broadway play than to a movie - a show will run on broadway for as long as it continues to generate revenue, but at some point even "Cats" has to close its doors (thank god) because it no longer draws enough of an audience to justify keeping it open.

I could go on for HOURS, but I will spare you the details. One word really sums it all up....HORIZONS. Why couldn't they fix or re-build the building???

Only if you can afford to buy the entire ride and put it in your back yard much like you can buy the tape or DVD and put it in your collection.

Amusement/Theme/Thrill park owners have to make sure their product continues to appeal to the masses, not a few thousand individuals who enjoy one particular ride.

Rides

It would be wonderful to keep all the attractions but not cost efficent. To keep everything and keep adding will cost so much more and really if you think about it, there would be no more room to put everything. We have to be practical. Any theme park has to keep bringing in new attractions or people start going away from it because it's boring. Disney is no exception.

Good point. Face it, those of us on these boards are Disney geeks and we are strong and passionate about what we like at the parks. However, not everyone attending WDW feels the same way about the attractions as we do (gasp!). Therefore, the same "old" attractions do become boring and boring means I'm not coming to WDW and spend my money. Example--Stitch is coming because people must have wanted Stitch to come. So, let's do a Stitch attraction because people have asked for something with Stitch in it and they are going to come back and spend money to see Stitch and they will buy Stitch merchandise and they will be happy we have Stitch and they will come back AGAIN to see Stitch. Us Disney geeks will be back, Stitch or no Stitch.

After a long time. If they had never replaced anything, Disney still wouldn't be close to filling up the land they have.

I know, it's unfortunate this world is filled of people like that (the same kind who get confused over simple things like switching monorails).

Unfortunately, this could not be further from the truth. A vast majority of the land that is available for development is no where near the existing parks. A lot of land is used by necessary support facilities. The resorts take up a huge amount of acerage. Some of the rest of it is used as greenspace buffers so that the guest doesnt feel like the place is tiny and also can't see the support facilities which are often no where as neatly kept as the parks and resorts.

1) Removal of 20,000 Leagues
2) The mear THOUGHT of renaming EPCOT!
3) What will happen to Spaceship Earth
4) Mr. Toads
5) Not updating the Contemporary Resort, to make it look "contemporary" at least!
6) $3.00 for 16oz bottle of water! - in the middle of JUNE!
7) Crowding two GREAT rides together in one very tiny area of the park....in MK....i.e Big Thunder, Splash Mountain with only one way to get into and out of that area.
8) Removal of Tapestry of Dreams parade or at best the music....the music was wonderful!!! Would hum it all day long.
9) Not adding on to the countries at EPCOT - Greece, Thailand, etc

I guess I have rambled on enough....but these are my pet peaves with Disney. Hope I dont offend anyone, as this is just my opinion and I do not mean any harm by it.:animwink:

I don't hat emcDOnald's I just don' think it should be INSIDE the parks themselves. I don't mind them on property but whenever I see that booth in frontierland I feel a jolt back to reality and that's not what I go to MK or any other disney park for. Again I love Mc Donald's I just don't like seeing it in the parks.

Yes that is expensive, but at least Disney has water fountains everywhere that are free!

Went to a water park here in Texas this summer and they charged 10 cents for a coffe cup of water (which was mainly ice) and we only found 2 water fountains the entire day.

Man, ToD sucked. I mean hard. ToN was THE BEST parade. It had everything that made any parade great! That's one thing I hate Disney for doing, getting rid of ToN Millennium Edition and replacing it with the ToN transition period version and then ToD.
