Things you hate Disney for doing

How about "If you had Wings." Remember that one?
That was a cool ride. If I'm correct it's where the Buzz ride is now.

And I heard FedEx is no longer sponsering Space Mountain. That means I won't see the commercial anymore of "when you absolutely, positively need it on time to take over the universe."

I loved that one.

Maybe the next park could be filled with rides that they closed down in the other parks. We could we call it???

when they gave the special on DLR just by looking at CA on TV made me not want to see it as badly as the original DL...it didn't look that interesting...

in WDW well I hate the inflated prices on everything but besides that I don't have much of a problem with anything else...kinda depressed AE is gone but I am looking forward to the new one. And someone mentioned having fastpasses in unnecessary places, I agree with that opinion also. rides like HM and Maelstrom don't need it. even ToT doesn't need it everytime we go we get FP's for RnRC (cuz that line is always long) and go through the regular line of ToT and it's like 20 min long at the most...maybe we're lucky

and oh the cinderella castle thing...yeah they should have SOMETHING in it even if it's walk-through or something...the last time i went through the castle was for grad-nite in april 2002 but before that it's been like 5 years or more cuz we always go to tomorrowland or liberty square on our way to frontierland...never see a point in going through the castle except to see the murals.

Remember, this is MY opinion--and I respect what everyone else has said.

That being said, threads like this do me no good. What do I "hate" about Disney? Honestly, nothing. There are some things, i.e., attractions, that I don't care for, but I don't hate anything. And if we're such geniuses and Disney execs/bean counters/decision makers are such goobers, then why are we sitting here not employed by Disney to make decisions on attractions? And why are they employed by Disney if decisions they make get ridiculed so much by us? Times and things change and I'm sure that decisions Disney has made have been made for a reason and with tremendous thought and research behind it. And no matter how much we "hate" something, we're not going to change the final outcome of something that has been done or not been done.

My lone-wolf opinion; I still respect the others.

Walter, If I had enough engery I would hunt you down and kill you for what you said about ISTC!!!!!

More from me now that I remember:

-Changing Tiki Room (Damn you all for doing it).

-Ending The Tapestry of Dreams (The only parade I would actually sit around for two hours to see, and you end it, then you dont replace it at all).

-360 Movies (Good concept but damn those rails!).

-Official Park CDs (Damn it! CHANGE THE TRACKS ALREADY! SOME OF THEM HAVE BEEN ON THERE SINCE THE 98 CD! CHANGE THEM!!!!!!!!)

Walt, I was joking. I've heard it all about M:S, so Im used to it.

Yeah, it was replaced by Dreamflight which was replaced by Buzz Lightyear.

You are right, it is something that should be done.

Some names that people have suggested for a park like that are Yesterworld, Vault Disney, & Disney Historical Park.

You make a very valid point!:)

Then again, Disney does occasionally make choices and decisions that were all not too fond of and in turn some one is going to inevitably complain.

I love the Disney Parks way too much to ever complain about them. Like you said, however, there are things I don't care for, but nothing that I hate.

My biggest gripe with Disney comes not from the theme parks, but within their Animation department. Unwarranted sequels and poorly made features (i.e, Treasure Planet) upset me the most. Where's the music?

I can't think of an decisions I made that I hated, but I was disappointed with a few decisions.

1) Closing Bonfamille's Cafe at Port Orleans when they merged the resort with Dixie Landings (now Riverside). This was one of my favorite restaurants at WDW so I was sad to see it go.

2) Changing Journey Into Imagination into Journey into Your Imaginations. Although I did not dislike the second version, it was a bit disappointing to see Figment gone. I do like the new version and am glad to see Figment back (personally, I didn't like Dreamfinder that much, so I wasn't to upset about seeing him gone).

3) Osborne Lights hiatus this year. Very disappointing that they couldn't get at least something together for this year for Christmas.

4) Too many audio shows in the parks. I'm sorry, but I'm just not a big fan of them billing these sound shows like Sounds Dangerous and Alien Encounter as major attractions. The ones at Condervation Station and the Soundworks at MGM were OK, but billing AE and SD as attractions is just too much. I have high hopes for the Stitch redo of AE though since from what I've heard it sounds like an improvement (more animatronics, a better storyline, more heart).

5) Thinking that adding ABC stars into attractions is a great idea. First Ellen, then Drew Carry, what's next? Kelly Rippa hosting Spaceship Earth? I feel that the addition of their ABC stars to the attractions dates the attractions much too fast and, for the most part, seem poorly done.

Kids of the Kingdom

Canceling Disney's Kids of the Kingdom show in front of the castle! I loved that show....it made me cry ever time!!!

Anyone else agree??:(

I couldn't agree with you more about the sequels. The worst part is they're resorting to making sequels out of old movies like Peter Pan and my favorite, Cinderella! Why, oh why?!?! I think the only sequels I didn't have too much of a problem with were The return of Jafar (I forgave the fact that Robin Williams wasn't in it, but ooh  ) and Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. But Little mermaid 2 and cinderella 2...:hurl: ok i think i ranted enough  but yeah I don't like the sequels. What's next, "Sleeping Beauty 2: Aurora Goes Back to Sleep" or "Prince Phillip Sleeps" for the modern female hero to rescue the male in distress... ok my imagination is getting the best of me

I don't hate anything, and I can't wait for 2005, it is going to be like 92 all over again. (Remember, 20 new things, for the 20th anniversary. That poor cow. Is it still alive?)I don't understand some things, and anyone who knows an official answer would be appreciated.
-First off, the Fireworks Factory.
Great BBQ. Good atmosphere. Closed all of a sudden.
-Wdw forever cds. Weren't there enough sick people out there to keep these things alive.
-Also, Superstar TV was great. All they needed was some updates. I know that the Home Improvement scenes were added. They could of done that and kept classics (Cheers, Lucy). Funny story, one time a kid said Ho-ward. It was classic.
-20000k. As I get older, I have learned to really enjoy the classic live action flicks. Swiss, Polly, Babes, etc. This ride was like being in the movie. That is probaly why they got rid of it, none of the kids knew who Capt Nemo was. They could tell you who the new Nemo is though. I would love if they would start putting more of the classics on DVD. They are doing a good job, but I would like some others not released.
-Lastly, the age old Song of the South debate. With all of the things they do, why can't they take the old stuff and PC it up for a release. I have seen it, and it has faults. But I think it could be saved. It is really a sweet movie. Although, it is offensive too. I love the end when Johnny falls, and he asks for Uncle Remus, it's good movie stuff. Also, makes you fear those unprevoked bull attacks.

Couple of good things I used to not understand.
Where is the characters? Now you know who is going to be where and at a specific time. That could of helped a lot of us back in the day.

2005-stunt show, everest, stich escape, wishes, mission, philharmagic, soarin, lots of great new stuff, all within three years open. It will be like the early 90's.

Bring music back to the movies. I like the new Brother Bear soundtrack. Bringing back Phil was great.

Also, it is so great to have Lion King on Dvd. (Fill a little ripped off on the $60 special edition copy.)

It's that feeling of being there on your first day of your visit and can't waiting to do the traditional stuff you do each time and the idea of doing something that you have never done before.

By far, no question would be the removal of 20K Under the Sea.

Other things would be the removal of the Skyway from FantasyLand/Tomorrowland. Its not Disney's fault that Dumb***fell out, he should've known better!!!

I agree, I miss 20K.

Also, can you tell me what happed with the skyride. I just knew it was gone one day. Did not know the reason.

Just a small strange note about it. When my wife and I were on our honeymoon in 1993 we rode the skyway from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. It was February and the parks were empty. I mean, walk on to just about everything. We get on line for the skyway. and there are like only 20 people on line. For some strange reason the CM made my wife and I ride with the older couple from India who did not speak any English. It was a bit unconfortable. We have no clue why they made us ride with them.

What I miss most at WDW

The Hunchback Show.

The parks cutting back live entertainment over the last few years has really taken away a "special" component that set Disney apart from other destinations. I also miss the Hollywood Hitmen playing big band music on New York Street and holiday favorites during the Christmas season. <sigh>

While I agree that most of the sequels stink, I loved Treasure Planet. I rented it with not much hope and ran out and bought it after. I thought it was excellent.

That is very true. I don't dearly, truly "hate" anything that Disney has done, there are just some decisions that I, personally, wish had not been made. That is what I, and I believe most others, based our answers upon.

One of the things I hate that Disney is doing is closing the Disney Club at the end of this year. I really enjoyed being a member and loved the yearly discounts I received. Now they have the stupid Disney Visa which I hate. :fork:

What do you guys think of that ???

i think it sucks too... i enjoyed that card... it was the best... the disney visa does suck... and u only can use it at the disney store, online and at the resorts... that is just way to restrictive... but with all the rent payments that i am making on it i could pay for half of a trip to wdw... so that could be a good thing... but i wish they still had the disney card...
