Although i haven't been to DCA, i don't doubt that i not only agree with you, but place it up there against any WDW park. EPCOT was and still is my favorite, but TDS was amazing. We only had one day to do either park and i definately wanted to do TDS instead of their equivalent of the MK. Its great to enter a Disney park for the first time. The first time i entered the former EuroDisney, now Disneyland Paris, it was new, yet familar because its the paternal twin of the MK/Disneyland, but TDS being totally new, except for really the Indiana Jones ride was amazing.

Heyyall, DCA is the other Disney park opened in the past 4 years. :D

Disney Changes

Disney will always be Disney and I'm sure I will never become unsatisfied with what they present. There are some things that I do wish Disney would have delt with differently.

- The introduction of McDonalds into the parks. Not needed.

- Dixie Landings to Riverside. Dixie is Dixie, not PO.

- Journey with Figment. Why did they change it in the first place?

- The Living Seas. The attraction itself took a dive, nice to see money being put back into it.

- The closing of Tangora Terrace at the Poly. A nice relaxing breakfast if you were staying there. (Kona did take it's place to an extent.)

- The Gourmet Pantry. Nice for a quick lunch or late snack.

- Remember "The Shops at Lake Buena Vista" or something like that? You could actually get a parking spot there then. (Maybe that was the problem!)

With that said, there are things Disney does right and for that people like myself keep going back.

Good point. I found that rather odd when I saw the Fries cart in Frontierland.

I honestly think Downtown Disney doesn't meet expectations. Most of the shops are mostly junk. CityWalk @ Universal does a better job IMO.

It goes with the Dinoland USA story.

My g/f and I were at Animal Kingdom on Saturday 1.3.04 to check out the Primevil Whirl ride (cute ride). After we got off that ride, I went over to the whack-a-mole game and laid down $2 to play. The "carnie" said, "The first one to reach 150 pts is the winner of this big orange dinosaur." It was a "goofy" (no pun intended) looking dinosaur. Anyways, he told everyone to get ready and I wailed away on the whack-a-mole game. I was the first one to get 150 pts. I won the dinosaur and gave it to my g/f. I came back 10 mins later, made another 150 pts, and won another stupid looking dinosaur. Though, we made some kid very happy when we gave that dinosaur to her. :)

If the parents of the little girl are subscribers on this board, we hope 2004 brings you many happy wishes and many "Magical Gatherings" :)

Caribbean Beach

Please don't say that was a big mistake, unlike you, an awful lot of people love that resort. It reminds you of the islands, it's colorful, the rooms are bigger, and everyone I know who has stayed there loves it!!! I stay also at the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, etc. I've stayed at moderates, value and the best and when I tell you Caribbean Beach is right up there, it's right up there. The other moderate hotels also have a big bus ride, maybe not quite as big but when you combine riverside and the french quarter, its close. Anyway, you can't say a hotel is awful when a lot more say its great. Even though I'm not a fan of Riverside, a lot of people would shoot me down, as well they should, because it's a beautiful resort as much as CB is to others.

I know lots of people loved Alien Encounter. However, the fact of the matter is that MUCH more people really disliked Alien Encounter (I'm Included)! (Please don't get mad at me for saying that)

If it AE was that popular than Disney would not have shut it down. I hope they retool it so that there is an attraction that really represents a true Disney-like aura. The first Alien Encounter, besides being scary, ended with a very negative message. There was no happy or reassuring ending. That is the main reason why I did not like it. It seemed like an attraction just there to freak people out.

Whether we like it or not, Disney is a business that is out to entertain, but also make money. You can't make money if prime real estate is not living up to full potential. Horizons falls into this category too. Now don't ge me wrong, Horizons was/is my all time favorite Disney attraction. However, near it's final years attendance had dropped significantly. Thus, keeping it around just doesn't make sense.

I don't agree with all the decisions that Disney has made. Usually, though, they do make sense.:) (Rant Over)
