The weather is here...I wish you were beautiful...or something like that!

Hello again, my WDWMagic peeps! Welcome back for another installment in the many adventures of SweetPee's family!

Not gonna get too organized or crazy piecing this one together. It's against the rules after such a kicked-back journey. If you don't know us yet, check out a few of the old reports in my signature. There's more than enough there for you to get to know us.

No big who, what, when, or where's for ya this time, either. Wanna know? Read more. Sometimes you just gotta go with what you get and enjoy the ride. Hope you'll come along. The more the merrier. Let's hit the highway yet again....

I liked this art piece hanging by the dining table. It's a neat interpretation of Neverland:

DSCN0275.jpg

And another close-up of the wet bar area. The fruit plate was in the room waiting when we got there. The booze on the right was our addition.

DSCN0277.jpg

I fixed the bed! You'll all think I'm nuts but I brought my Minnie rag quilt that I made. It's really made to be a lap quilt but I'm not opposed to spreading it out over my spot on the bed if it makes me happy to do it. Yes, I carried a quilt onto the ship with me. I also carried my little cozy pillow. What can I say? I'm a snuggler.

DSCN0279.jpg

It was passed 2:00 now and we still had no luggage or my box that I shipped to myself from home earlier the previous week. We must've sounded like broken records telling our room steward and Andreia over and over that these things had to be brought from our other stateroom we upgraded from. I was so stressing!

We had some time to kill before the cruise group meet-up (from another fan forum). Here's a quick pic from the atrium:

DSCN0280.jpg

I love this!

Oooohh...the shops!

Even the doors are cool!

DSCN0289.jpg

Oooooh...what's thiiiiis....Disney Dooneys? On sale????

DSCN0290.jpg

Then we saw where the Walt Disney Theater is. Yep, here it is.

DSCN0287.jpg

Look who we happened to bump into!

DSCN0291.jpg

How do you not take pics of this stuff?!

Just outside Studio Sea (family clubby type space where there's gameshows and other activities) we spotted this bit of Magic history. It's her christening. I stopped to show the guys.

DSCN0294.jpg

Here's the Magic's godmother. Much more fitting than the Dream or Fantasy. This is Patricia Disney, former wife of Walt's nephew, Roy E. Disney.

DSCN0296.jpg

A peek inside Studio Sea:

DSCN0297.jpg

Around the corner is the red carpet entrance:

DSCN0304.jpg

Then I found the artwork for sale! Oh my! Okay, I realize it's prob'ly tacky to take pics of the pieces but it's not like I was taking straight-on shots I could try to reproduce or something. I'll take one of these:

DSCN0298.jpg

This one's cool. Minnie is out in the water faced towards the ship:

DSCN0299.jpg

I really don't care for the Thomas Kinkade pieces. His work has never appealed to me. Tracey likes this one, tho:

DSCN0300.jpg

I went bat-crap crazy over this one. I looooove it!

DSCN0301.jpg

I had to threaten Tracey with bodily harm if he purchased it, though. I know him. I saw the look on his face. The cruise was our gift for Mother's Day and his milestone birthday. No artwork splurges!

I saw this in someone else's pics in the not-so-distant past and loved it even more in person:

DSCN0302.jpg

Tracey said that next to the Up piece, this one was one he'd really love to have. Such a romantical kinda guy sometimes....

In Shutters, the place where you can purchase the professional pics taken throughout the cruise, they had these resort posters to look at instead of empty shelves since there were no guest pics to display yet. We had some good laughs reminiscing.

Jerry, pay attention. Tracey says this is what a superior resort looks like.

DSCN0305.jpg

Personally, I lean towards this one as the superior resort destination.

DSCN0306.jpg

We saw this lifeboat being lowered. We know that one works. In case of emergency, come back here!

DSCN0307.jpg

DSCN0308.jpg

Then it was time for the cruise group meet here at the Promenade Lounge.

DSCN0309.jpg

It was fun meeting folks after chatting online for months. I couldn't skip the meet this time around. I had to make sure everyone in the group knew our new stateroom number for the Fish Extender gift exchange.

After the meet we ran back to our stateroom before the muster drill to see if our stuff had arrived yet. Got our luggage. No box yet. Yikes! The box has all our gifts for the exchange in it!

Definitely a better muster drill experience this time. No squishing shoulder-to-shoulder, standing room only, in the sweltering heat outside for what feels like an eternity. Nope. We were inside Animator's Palette with air conditioning and seats! Soooo much better!

Back to the room to unpack. No box yet. Should I cry now or what? It was waiting when I got to my room on the Dream last year. Is my box lost???? Hurried to get tonight's dinner clothes out for the express pressing.

We hurried out to watch us sail away. Buh-Bye, Mickey's terminal.

DSCN0326.jpg

But then.... ((pause for effect)) ....there were strange things going on. Pirates??? Already???

DSCN0329.jpg

DSCN0328.jpg

Oh! It's the pilot's ride! LOL!

DSCN0330.jpg

Wait! Where ya going??? You didn't get the pilot yet!

DSCN0331.jpg

Oh! The other side of the ship....which is where our balcony is! Awesome! There you are again!

DSCN0333.jpg

Tracey was totally geeking out over the pilot transferring off our ship onto the boat. Here he is living large watchin' the action from our verandah:

We waited for a while. I was beginning to think they weren't going to transfer the pilot at all. They took their time lining up for the exchange. And I video'd it! How awesome is that?! Love the cheers after he hopped over! What a show!!!!

(click the pic)

It was pushing 6 and I knew the shops would open soon. I was dying to see if I could score the Disney Cruise Line Sketch Dooney duffel bag at that sweet 25% off. I'd never pay $395 for that but $100 off I might just do! Disney Dooney looooove...

DSCN0339.jpg

Inlaid floor pic while I waited for the doors to open:

DSCN0340.jpg

Unfortunately, the duffles weren't included in the sale. Dernnit. I'd have bought one. I already have the bag. And the wristlet. No need to buy those again.

Tracey wanted to go see the show (forget what it was). I was feeling quite drained. We sat down in the theater but he could tell I was getting really tired. We opted to skip the show for a short nap. When we got back to the room our box was there. Yaaaaayyy!!! That's a load off my mind!

After my nap I took a nice dip in my big honkin' tub & we dressed for dinner. When Chandler came in we discovered a potential disaster. The dress pants I bought him last year were too small so we bought him the same pants from Kohls for this cruise in a larger size. When packing, I wasn't really "allowed" to oversee Chandler's clothes. He set everything out & I packed it. Well, he messed up & grabbed the too small pants vs. the new ones that fit. Uh oh! Tracey dashed off towards the Treasure Ketch shop where we'd just seen khaki dress pants. He bought several pairs in various sizes then hoofed it back. The ones that didn't fit we returned. Still, $75 for 1 pair of pants isn't what I'm usually up for spending....especially for a kid.

Disaster averted, we were off to our 8:15 dinner seating at Animator's Palette! We met our head server (Ana from Serbia), our server (Som from Thailand), and our assistant server (I Wayan from I forget where).

Here's the menu:

DSCN0341.jpg

DSCN0342.jpg

Aaaand...this is where the diet went flying out the window... I started with the wild mushroom risotto:

DSCN0344.jpg

Followed by a tomato salad:

DSCN0345.jpg

For my main course I had the beef tenderloin with bok choy & our favorite wasabi mashed potatoes from the Dream last year:

Dessert menu:

DSCN0347.jpg

Chandler had the apple crumbly stuff.

DSCN0348.jpg

I went with cake.

DSCN0349.jpg

After dinner the boys were off to Ice Breakers in Vibe so Tracey and I wandered. First I went to Mickey's Mates because I didn't go in there earlier.

DSCN0352.jpg

Then we just sorta wandered. Here's deck 4:

DSCN0353.jpg

DSCN0356.jpg

Here's something we didn't see on the Dream. Forward on deck 4 the mooring line lifts are all open for you to see:

DSCN0354.jpg

DSCN0355.jpg

In our wanderings we passed by this killer stateroom door:

DSCN0357.jpg

When we returned to our stateroom the beds had been turned down and this is what was waiting for us:

DSCN0359.jpg

I guess we were in bed by 11 or so. The boys didn't come in until later. I think Chandler came to bed at midnight while Brian stayed out until 1:30 a.m. I didn't sleep the greatest. I woke every 2 hours during the night. At around 4 a.m. I felt the ship turning so I watched the numbers for our speed & heading change on the nav tv channel. Tracey had left it on. That's prob'ly why I didn't sleep so good.

Yay! :sohappy: So happy you started your report!

I feel you pain with leaving your pup during vacation. We have a multitude of pets we have to leave when we go away. Our dogs stay with my in-laws and I have friends come to housesit the horses and cats. I know in my head they will be fine without me and everyone will make sure they are taken care of but it is so hard to leave them. The worst part about going on vacation!

I am glad you guys loved Typhoon Lagoon! We kept going to Blizzard Beach because we loved the theming. Finally we decided we should check out Typhoon Lagoon and decided we actually liked it more than BB! That wave pool is crazy! Those waves are so strong. Definitely not like swimming at the Jersey shore! I hate it when it is crowded though and people get slammed into you because they don't know how to go with the waves! Don't fight it, work with it!! We haven't ever gone over to Shark Reef. I have heard the water was cold and that didn't appeal to me too much. I will have to check out the viewing area though! That looked neat! And you seriously look great in your pics! No way I am wearing a bikini. :hurl: No one wants to see that. Maybe after training for this Goofy Challenge (and maybe some Weight Watchers :lookaroun)...

Aaahhhhh! The beloved Magic! It is so great to see your pics! Awesome room too! Hope you got to enjoy your great balcony more than we did! Great start! Can't wait to see more!

Sooooo excited you've started your TR!!! :) I've been back almost 2 weeks and have barely made a dent in mine. I'm just too busy!!

Can I say I am super bummed that we missed you guys by just one day!! Would have been awesome to meet you before the girls cruise next year!

LOVE the stateroom. That extra space must have been great to have! And nice choice in alcohol. I love to mix some Parrot Bay with orange soda for my 'drinky drink'!

I burst out laughing when I read the "I've got the golden ticket.." line. I so remember that from your previous TR. I think that might be one of things that no one in your family will ever forget and it will forever be brought up lol

And you have nothing to be self conscious about in those bathing suit pics! You have a beautiful figure. You're healthy, lady! I think it's better than being stick straight! I'd rather have a few curves than have the body of a 12 year old boy any day!

OK so seeing the pics of the food has made me hungry so it's off to find some breakfast. Probably just some yogurt but I could definietly go for that rissotto! YUM!!

Typhoon Lagoon looks like so much fun. I miiight have to make a trip there on my next WDW trip.

Totally agree with you about the Godmother of the Fantasy. Jennifer Hudson started out on DCL and has been a pretty positive role model. Mariah Carey on the other hand, makes no sense. I would have been happier if they made Maleficent Godmother of the Fantasy

Looking forward to reading more!

OMG! My bags are packed and I'm so joining in on this adventure! GREAT trip report so far!

Typhoon Lagoon looks like fun, I've never been there before so I'll for sure need to make an appearance sometime! About the bikini, you so have nothing to worry about! You have a very nice shape and look great in that bikini! I, on the other hand, wouldn't look so great in a bikini! One-piece swimsuit for me please!

The cruise looks like so much fun so far! I've been on 1 Royal Caribbean cruise and 1 Carnival cruise but I've never been on a Disney cruise! I'm so totally thinking about going on the WDW Magic girls cruise though! Hopefully, it will happen! :D

Can't wait for more!

I did take a lot of pics just like you told me to! I'm a good listener and take instruction well. :D However, you know you may be too photo crazy when your server says, "Kellyyyyy, I take you to Japan & you will fit in with all the pictures you take. Why so many???" Then I have to explain about the trip reports.... LOL!

The room was really nice. No complaints. I didn't have to clean. That's the best part no matter what size the room is.

Both boys really enjoyed Vibe more this go around. I think it had a lot to do with the much smaller group of teens (maybe 1/4 of what was on the Dream). Also, I had put them in touch with the other teens in our cruise group prior to sailing so they'd already been conversing & set up their own "meet" on embarkation day. They also said the counselors actually hung out with them. This is a huge key for Chandler. Not to sound like the bragging/over-proud mom but he's never related closely with kids his own age. Even when he was a squirt. Very rarely did he bond with children the same age as him. The gap really widened in middle school. He has always preferred the company of people older. Put him with other teens and he shuts down. Put him with a room full of adults and he's like a butterfly. The counselors "hung" with the kids this time. Chandler bonded with all 3 of them and they helped bridge some gaps to the other kids as well. That's where the biggest difference was. On the Dream the kids said the counselors just kept to themselves. I think maybe from now on when we embark & go to Open House I'll be sure to steal a moment with the counselors onhand and explain the importance of them engaging the kids, Chandler in particular. He'll be their most loyal friend if they give him a chance.

OMG! That mushroom risotto was da bomb!!!! I could so roll around blissfully in a giganto plate of the stuff. It's sooooo incredible!

OMG! Yes, coming down off the cruise is brutal. Like the first day home I was so annoyed by having to go to the kitchen, fix my own breakfast, and clean up after. Where's the list of restaurant openings???

I know! I wish we could've met up!

The extra space was cool but the layout wasn't as awesome as the well-thought-out room we had on the Dream that was 1/2 the size. On the way home Tracey & I discussed this at length. We felt like we had just as much space on the Dream even with half the square footage. The Dream really does make every inch count whereas in that 1 bedroom suite there's a lot of little quirks to work around (like the master tv placement) especially when the beds are all folded out for bedtime.

The golden ticket was hysterical! Yes, it still comes up every now & then. On this cruise it came up several times. Tracey would lean over randomly and whisper with a chuckle...Golden Ticket, Baby! It's so tacky which is where the humor comes in for me. LOL!

Ugh! Thank you for the bathing suit compliment. Y'all are the sweetest. I wish I looked as good as I did at Typhoon Lagoon at Castaway Cay. I'd been eating cruise food for 4 days at that point. It shooooowed! You'll see. I'll be shameless and embarrass myself. It was Mother's Day and I let it all gooooo.... LOL! I agree on preferring curves over stick-skinny. I think a lot of people misunderstand the plight of the stick-skinny, tho. Sure, those of us who battle to keep weight off look at those folks and think, "Gawd, I wish I had that problem." But do you know they look at us and think the same thing??? Most of Tracey's life he fought like mad to get pounds put on so he didn't look like a bean pole. Brian is very self-conscious about it, too. The difference is that everyone knows it's hurtful to call someone fat but not everyone realizes it hurts just as much to call a super-skinny person bean-pole. Ya know? I remember being in college and being upset that I wasn't small & petite. My brother informed me I was insane, that guys mostly prefer tall, long-legged, curves. I see my niece struggling with self-image now, too. She's danced ballet her whole life. She's not tall, swan-like, waif-thin. She's like a solid muscle with womanly curves. She still out-dances the skinny girls, too. But they all wear the leotards, etc. and she's grown to be self-conscious about not looking like the typical ballerina. We keep telling her she has the best of both worlds: more talent/ability than the skinny girls with all the curves the boys dig most. Ah, but I remember being that age. Even at a size 4 I thought I was a moose. Little did I know...I should've been running around naked living it up while it lasted....

Typhoon Lagoon was so awesome!!! We really loved it! I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to go to any of the 4 main parks at WDW but I'd go back to Typhoon Lagoon in a heartbeat. I'd like to try Blizard Beach as well!

Oh yeah! I read that about Jennifer Hudson. I had no clue. I still remember my first impression before I knew she had a history with Disney which was...ugh...whyyyyy???? I totally LOL'd at the thought of Maleficent as Godmother! That'd certainly be a better fit. Mariah. Who the heck came up with that one? Were the powers-that-be sitting around the table trying to think of the most person to give the honor to needlessly and/or pointlessly???? I just don't get it.

More shall come! The ride gets sweeter as we go!

I'm in!

Love the report and pics on TL! You guys are braver than me. I never had the courage to get into the Shark Reef - not because of the sharks, but rather the cold water. :)

Looking forward to the rest of the report!

Yes, that water was frigid! I had to divert both boys when they got in because they didn't even think before starting to blurt out in loud voices the effect that cold water was having on...uh...their boys. :lookaroun Soon as they started to say something I talked loudly over them and shoosh'd 'em. Tracey, on the other hand, couldn't talk. I think he was choking and hyperventilating.

I can't wait to tell about Key West day! That was our favorite! I'm especially excited for you to hear all about it since you're gonna be there this summer. Lucky duck! I'd gladly go back for a full week. It's an amazing place with a really incredible, unique vibe. I felt like a duck in water!

OMG! My bags are packed and I'm so joining in on this adventure! GREAT trip report so far!

Great! Throw your bags in the truck and come on! I love company!

I can't recommend Typhoon Lagoon enough. Seriously! I know I sound like a broken record but we really enjoyed it that much. One of the cool things I forgot to mention is that TL was under construction when I was a teenager, we were locals, and had seasonal passes. I remember seeing TL under construction, Miss Tilly way up in the sky, and my sibs & I discussing what the heck Disney was doing with THAT. Now I know. I only wish I hadn't waited so long to check it out.

The cruise is incredible. It's bliss in it's purest form. Truly. We've only done 2 cruises now, both Disney. We sailed the Dream last September and the Magic last week. I love them both about the same. They each have their pros & cons. I'll get to it later but on the way home I booked us on RCI's Allure of the Seas for Thanksgiving 2013. Tracey's family is doing a big gathering and everyone is sailing together. Should be fun!

I hope you can make the girls cruise! I'm so pumped for it! I keep looking at the sailings before/after ours thinking I could see about flying Tracey in for just the 2 of us to sail sans kids. 9/18/13 is our 20th anniversary. Well, mainly I want to be able to do a back-to-back but it sounds better to say it's for the anniversary.

And thank you for your compliment on the 2-piece pics! I can't thank y'all enough for that. It's like free therapy! Can you all just come to my house and follow me around saying nice stuff???? Haha!

Thank you!!!! I love my rag quilt! Not sure how the upcoming move will affect things but I really want to make another one. I've got lots of ideas floating in my brain. I've got one I really need to start because it's supposed to be gift...but in case that person is reading this I can't say much about it. Dang.

Thanks for the swimsuit compliment! I'm tellin' y'all, you make me feel so much better about the pics. I was very on-the-fence when Tracey wanted to take the pictures. It was a real leap of faith to allow such. I didn't even do pics when I was a teenager and in picture-perfect shape (like Kensie!). Too bashful, I guess. Heehee!

It's Thursday, May 6th and my body is in anti-sleep mode. Fantastic. At 6 a.m. I gave up the battle. I could see a little light outside so I got up, threw on my "business" shoes (aka running shoes), ate a quick banana & strawberry, then headed out to run the loop on deck 4. Tracey got up & headed up top to watch the sun come up and see what could be seen. In the stairwell on my way down from deck 8 I discovered that my running headphones won't bluetooth in airplane mode. Not good. Then I made it down to deck 4 and discovered the running loop and entire deck area from both aft doors forward (practically the whole thing) was closed for maintenance. Really? At 6:30 a.m.??? When people typically RUN? Ugh! I was seriously miffed and thinking of all the people I was gonna have a stern talking-to over this as I trudged my butt up to the gym to get on a treadmill. I hate treadmills. I hate them so so much. Got my 30 minutes in and fumed my way back to my room. On the way my stomach totally tied itself into knots. It hurt baaaad. I was worried.

Met back up with Tracey in our stateroom where I was informed that all the runners had migrated to deck 10. Crap. Wish I'd known!

We relaxed, showered, & dressed. This morning was our 10:00 reservation for brunch here:

DSCN0361.jpg

DSCN0360.jpg

We were the first couple seated. Our waiter, Mirko from Croatia, was wonderful. He gave us a tour of the offerings. I took pics like a crazy woman. A little ahead of myself but this is the order of our tour. Dessert offerings:

DSCN0363.jpg

Seafood. Yuck. But it's a nice presentation that I can appreciate:

DSCN0364.jpg

Other side of the seafood table with more seafood and accompaniments. Confession: at this point I was beginning to wonder if I made a mistake. That's a lot of seafood being offered and I'm not a seafood person.

DSCN0365.jpg

Ah, there's hope. Cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, breads, etc. Still, why do people go so bonkers over this stuff:

DSCN0366.jpg

Breakfast breads. Inside the warmer is ooey-gooey sticky buns! I think I might really enjoy this:

DSCN0367.jpg

And then there's the stuff that's made to order for you. Eggs benedict??? Yes, please! This could get painful...

DSCN0368.jpg

Flatbreads! God loves me!!!!

DSCN0369.jpg

Oh but there's those desserts:

Kelly, I agree with everyone else, you look fabulous in your bathing suit!! (I know you can hear it 100 times, and still not believe it. I struggle with weight issues too, I've lost 52 lbs but still see myself as the "fatter" me) But really, you look great!

Fantastic trip report so far! I love your style of writing. I've said it before, but I always feel like I can hear you talking when I read your writing. So fun! Looking forward to more :sohappy:

I started with some cold cuts. The prosciutto rocked my socks off. I also had some grilled veggies, assorted breads, and a couple of the chocolate strawberries since Mirko told us those generally run out fast. I ordered eggs benedict which was so amazing. The only problem was the more I ate the more my stomach was tying itself into knots. It hurt soooo much. I sipped my mimosa until it was gone then polished off Tracey's as well. He's not a mimosa guy. I, on the other hand, looooove mimosas!

We were seated by the window near the entrance and enjoyed the views as we approached Key West. We noticed a little something unusual out there, tho:

Is that a submarine???? Why, yes it is!

Very cool! One of the cooks came out and gazed at it for a long while. He told us in his younger years he was a submariner. All the cooking and wait staff came out to look. Many took pics. And we chatted with lots of them. It was fun. The submarine training exercises were a fascinating show to say the least. Tracey went outside to take pics. I can't wait for my daddy to see. He'll tell me all about it!

And it faded away from us.

All the excitement added a level of fun to the whole Palo experience. We started talking to the ladies at the table next to us. They were on a 3-week adventure to celebrate Mother's Day sans kids & men. Color me jealous! Tracey, take NOTES! Anywhoo, the oldest in the group (she was the mom) was quite the pistol of a lady. My favorite kinda chick! She was telling us how she's trying to eat her way out of her hangover, etc. Her husband is a retired USNavy sub captain. She talked about the sub we saw, talked about living in Hawaii ((Hello! Jealous again!)), etc. Such fun! I even got an answer to something I've wondered about for years. When I was a kid and my dad was in the Navy (24 yr vet...I'm very proud of him!) we went on what was called a Dependant's Cruise. Basically the crew's family were invited onboard the ship, they sailed out so far, then turned around and came back all in just 1 day. You could tour most of the ship, they'd bbq for everyone, etc. It was fun! I sailed with my daddy! Dad was the senior guy on the signal deck so my brother and I got dibs on all the binoculars, too. The USS Kennedy (aircraft carrier) sailed out on a Dependant's Cruise right next to us. It was killer watching the planes taking off & landing. And the high-speed, low-level fly-by with the sonic boom right above our heads was something I'll never forget. Don't know if they still do Dependant's Cruises since 9/11. I think all the pics are at my folks' house. Anywhoo, I always wondered if the submariners did Dependant's Cruises. Guess what??? They DID! The lady next to us told us about it. So cool!

Enough drift.... it's time for dessert! I knew I had a small window here with my stomach steadily twisting. So I punished it. I had the chocolate cakes which were to die for, a nut-pastry thing with chocolate on top, and one more chocolate strawberry:

When we went to get our dessert plates I picked up a clean plate from the stack. Tracey asked me to hand him a plate. "Yes, dear, but let me get you another one. This one is obviously meant for me. See? There's a 'K' right there in the middle." Yep, the cracks in the glazing made a perfect K. I tried to get a pic but it wasn't easy. Still, very neat that there was a plate at the dessert buffet that practically had my name on it!

Oh but I have to show you the inside of the chocolate cake things. I thought they were like chocolate covered Oreos which would've been great but they were sooooo muuuuuch beeeeetter than that!

On our way out we asked the fellow at the check-in desk (is this what a maitre 'd is?) to take a pic for us. He was so sweet. He took several adjusting where we stood and the camera settings to make sure he got a really good shot. So amazing these Palo folks are!

I loved the Palo brunch so much even with my stomach not cooperating. My only regret was that I couldn't stay longer and eat more. I really wasn't feeling right, tho, and I didn't want to ruin myself for the rest of the day. Next time it's no-holds-barred. I'm gonna tear up that grub!
