The Story of the Triangles

I remember about a year or so ago that the forums were all a-tizzy about the addition of the abstract triangles in the downramp to Spaceship Earth. Weird, maybe. Lacking, perhaps. Random, NO!

Behold, from the newly revised and updated "Imagineering Field Guide to Epcot", which came out on Tuesday:

"Surrounding them, Guests see an abstract version of the triangular panels that make up the surface of the exterior sphere. The panels explode into a burst of energy, representing the genesis of the next great idea. These panels follow us down the ramp, increasing in density as we reach the bottom - affirming our return to Spaceship Earth".

The more you know...

Maybe they were supposed to burst into energy, but that's never really happened. Instead I guess the triangles represent good ideas just barely hanging outside our field of vision, or outside of our reach.

In that case, I think they're a perfect fit for the end of SSE.

You know how "as seen on TV" products are made to sound as though they can cook food faster and cure cancer at the same time? That's the same type of con that I feel this little spiel represents.

Wow, that's an...interesting...way to look at it. I wonder what that "next great idea" is the triangles are bursting with?

Thanks for posting this, dizryan...I think :lookaroun

I know this picture gets used a lot, but...

That's just utterly ridiculous. :brick:

As I have said many times before, mostly about C&H on Animal Kingdom: You can give a tacky place or effect any fantastic backstory or philosphical explanation you want, but it will always be tacky.

I think this fits well here.

This is where the budget ran out.

I also heard that SGE is supposed to suck, because the Imagineers wanted to make a statement about how bad the future is going to be. Those guys sure are clever!
